Kaytee Chinchilla Chiller Granite Stone

Our chinchilla loves it!

I bought this at Petsmart for relatively the same price. I live in Las Vegas and summers are absolutely brutal here, some days can get to 113+. So I thought this would make me worry less about the heat, as it is wayyy too expensive to keep the thermostat at anything lower than 72 in Vegas. I give it 3 stars because my Chin doesnt really seem to care about it. I even put a crunch log, that connects to the cage, above it to give him a reason to sit there, and he does, but only to chew on the log. I also freeze it from time to time to see if he likes it really cold. I thought he would love to escape the heat on a cool marble slab but he really could care less. Great idea, I guess I just have a weird chinchilla.

I purchased one of these online from Petsmart.com and I received it with one corner broken off so they sent me a replacement for no extra cost! So, now I have two and can rotate them out every so often(I place them in the refrigerator for a couple hours and they end up extra chilly)... I would rate them four stars because its a GREAT product but in the end it IS just a piece of ganite... My chins sit on it occasionally but not a whole lot to make it worth this price. It did make me feel better to have this in their cage when our power went out for a few hours. Definitely a must have for all chin owners!

Perhaps my chinchillas are never overly warm, but they don’t bother to use this as anything but a stepping stone to get somewhere else. One of my lil guys used this the first day to nap on, but nothing for months since then. Sadly a bit of a waste of money unless your home is warmer than they like.

First one came broken from Amazon but they quickly remedied that. I would suggest buying two so you can trade them out through out the day as they work best after a few hours in the freezer. My chinchilla melts into his in our hot Southern California weather

Keeps the chinchilla cool after running. Buy a bunch to store in the fridge for a the summer or blackout.
