Look closely at the flux descriptions for Kester cored solders before buying. No Clean does not mean you dont have to clean up the flux residue. It means the flux does not provide any cleaning action. Kester #44 flux is an active cleaning rosin flux that works to remove oxide from the surfaces being soldered. The solder flows quickly when soldering components in a thru-hole plated PCB, minimizing the time and heat required to obtain a reliable joint. The SN63 version is a eutectic alloy. It goes directly from molten to solid, minimizing the chances of a cold solder joint, at a temperature lower than either tin or lead by itself. I dont worry about the lead, just dont eat while working and wash hands well after handling the raw solder wire. I keep a spool of 0.20 for board work and a spool of 0.31 for chassis connector work on hand. I have never felt the need for fancy boutique solders that cost 4X the price of Kester. Its reliable product that always gets the job done.

I used this to solder and desolder mechanical key switches on mechanical keyboards. Helped me desolder a Pok3r; I removed the Cherry MX Blues and soldered in some 65g Purple Zealio tactile switches. I also soldered some Gateron Brown switches to an OLKB (Ortholinear Keyboard) and I have plenty of spool left for future projects!

This is the best solder I have used. It’s a bit expensive but you get a lot of solder and it makes beautiful joints every time.

Since the Radioshack Solder I used was getting harder to find, I thought I would give this one a try. Up until this point I only used the Radioshack Silver Bearing Solder 62/36/2. After using this Kester 63/37, all I can say is this solder is awesome! Perfect for all my projects. I do a ton of SMD and IC work, and this solder works extremely well. I cannot notice a huge difference between this and the silver bearing, and this will be the solder I will use now. Do not hesitate to get this product, you will not be disappointed!

Good stuff. Why bother with the cheap stuff from the hardware store, home center or radio shack? Nice flowing clean solder with goood flux clean up. Besides the tiny diameter works sooo nicely

Kester 44 rosin flux is an activated rosin formula for use in flux-cored solder wire. Kester 44 rosin flux has virtually dominated the field of activated rosin core solders for well over four decades. An outstanding performance feature of this flux is the "instant-action" wetting behavior. The high mobility and fast-spreading action of this flux results in more reliable production line soldering.
