> 3 dayWe loved this mat while it lasted- it kept our hedgehog warm and cozy under her sleeping area. Tonight while cleaning her cage, though, we were shocked to see a black, singed hole melted right through to the metal heating element, and the entire casing melted, shrunk, and stiffened again. I’ve had these mats last years and years longer- it’s been 18 months of light duty use, without any direct access to her- no chewing, etc.

> 3 dayI have been using this model of heating pad for many years with my bunny. I put it under a plexiglass sheet to make the heat more spread out since she likes to stretch out. She spends the night on it every night in the winter since we turn down the heat. A great product and the only one of its type. Its great that bunny teeth wont demolish it like a soft heating pad.

> 3 dayOur cat sleeps in a shed at night. Shes getting older, and we feel badly when its below zero (sometimes -20F). We keep this in the shed inside a cat-carrier that has had its door removed and is covered by insulation. Kitty seems to like it, and even jumps in there at times when the shed door is open during the day.

Greater than one weekThis heat pad worked great for our hedgehog for months. Then one day I smelled burning plastic in my daughters room. It took a while to identify the origin, but after checking all the outlets and reptile enclosures, we finally found this heating pad with a melted hole in the plastic showing silver material inside. The smell is only now really leaving her room after several days. I had purchased this highly recommended by hedgie owners as low temperature and safe. I wish I had taken pictures of the damage. I am glad my daughter didnt get into danger sleeping in the same room as the malfunctioning unit.

Greater than one weekI got this for my small barn cat and she loved it when it got down to -11. She is acclimated to the cold and even at that temp she was out running around, but she loved this when she wasn’t stalking mice and it gave me peace of mind at night.
