> 24 hourThis fan is powerful. It’s more than a fan. I was really happy the day I got it, because it would be serving as both white noise and circulation for my 400 sq ft room. The circulation is amazing. Like a soft breeze keeping me cool. It’s a quality fan, and it’s not small. The white noise aspect is what turned me off. I thought I heard some humming on the lower setting, but I was fine to be patient with that, maybe it needed to shift into place after being in the mail. And that wasn’t what got me. Last night (3 night into owning the fan), it was too loud in the lowest setting. I think my 25 year old self would have loved the noise level, but at almost 40, it felt like the fan was screaming at me, and it woke me up. It has a loudness that kind of exceeds white noise levels, is the only way I can explain it. I think this is better suited for actual circulation purposes and not white noise for sleeping. I’m getting a tower fan and a white noise machine instead. My days of 2-for-1 are over, I guess

> 24 hourIt looks, feels, and works identically to the one I bought 8 years ago. It cost almost the same. Super pleased already. I think people would like this for a shop fan. It *is* noisy. It isnt easy to move. But thats not why you buy this fan. You buy it because it is powerful for its size, affordable, and super functional. The bracket could hang this from the rafters in the garage. We used the last one like a whole house fan. For about half the year, we would run it from 10pm to 6am to pull air through the house by blowing out an upstairs window. After 8 years, that one got bogged down with dust and hair and wouldnt turn over one day. Yknow what? Im happy.

> 24 hourIve had this fan for a couple months now and Im very pleased with it. I didnt want to just get a cheap plastic fan (Ive had plenty of those). So I spent a little more money and so far am happy I did. Hopefully this fan will last a few years, making it a solid investment. It is all metal, with metal blades. This fan does have the capacity to be mounted on the wall, but I have not done that so I cant review that aspect of the product. I just have my fan on the floor and thats good enough for me. I have a room in my home that was not getting cool enough this summer. The central A/C vent in that room blows out cool air, but its just not enough to accommodate the size of the room. So I purchased this fan to see if it would help. I placed the fan on the opposite end of the room from where the A/C vent is, so that the fan is blowing toward the A/C vent. It works wonderfully. This is a powerful fan and has tremendous velocity at the lowest setting (it has low-med-high settings). I usually just run it on low and it keeps my room cool. There were a few days when it was hotter and more humid outside, and the room just wasnt getting cool enough for me, so I turned the fan up on high and that did the trick. Because this is a heavy-duty, high-velocity fan, I suppose it is a bit loud even on the lowest setting. But Im one of those people who likes the sound of a fan so its hard for me to comment on this aspect. It is noticeably louder if you increase the setting. I suppose some people might think that the high setting sounds a bit like a jet engine. But again, Im just trying to be as objective as I can since the noise this fan produces doesnt bother me one bit, even on high. For me, the sound of this fan is very relaxing. In its defense, it is a very smooth sound. There is no annoying rattling or vibrating or anything like that - those type of noises DO bother me. This is just a nice, smooth fan sound that happens to be loud because it is pushing the air so forcefully. Some people might find this helpful if they want to block out outside noises, particularly if they work at night and have to try to sleep during the day. If you are one of those people, this is an excellent fan to serve your purpose. There are rubber feet on the bottom which help prevent vibration-type noise, and also helps keep the fan from sliding around - although it is so solid that it probably wouldnt slide anyway, except possibly on the highest setting. This fan is quite a bit heavier than a plastic fan, but I see that as a good thing. Thats what I wanted - a solid, sturdy fan as opposed to a lightweight, flimsy plastic thing. You dont have to worry about accidentally tipping it over. I recommend this this product. It is MUCH more powerful than a cheap, plastic fan. Very solid, all-metal construction. High velocity pushes much more air and does a much better job of cooling a room.

> 24 hour(Update July 2019... Price of this fan has dropped $10 in the last year, making this fan only $15 more expensive than the B-air Firtana to which I compare it below. Both fans are still working for me. But the B-air Firtana has eleven percent 1-star reviews, most because of the fan quickly dying whereas this Lasko has only three percent one-star reviews. At just a $15 difference, Id buy the Lasko today. The reviews are four times more negative for the B-air, though, again, both are still working for me.) This fan shows up alongside the B-air Firtana-20X when you search for 20-inch fans on Amazon. They look fairly similar, so why does this fan cost so much more--$62 vs $39 for the B-air? Having recently bought one of each, here are my observations. Similarities: 1. Dimensions, pivoting ability, weight. They seem very similarly constructed initially. 2. Apparent effectiveness in moving air. Both have three speeds, both seem to put out air well. If anything, in a subjective test the B-air seems a bit more powerful. But again, this was subjective... 3. Construction. Both have metal shrouds, metal blades, rubber shock absorbers connecting fan to stand to keep vibration down and grounded three-prong plugs at the end of substantial cords. Differences which might explain the difference in price: 1. The Lasko has a front-mounted speed control. The B-air has its speed control mounted directly on the motor and can only be controlled from the back. 2. The Lasko comes with a substantial wall mounting plate. The B-air says it can be mounted on the wall, but doesnt include a fixture for doing so. Its up to you to find the hardware for hanging the B-air. Also, the Laskos front-mounted switch makes controlling it when wall-mounted more convenient. 3. The Laskos motor is enclosed in a plastic shield at the back while the B-air exposes the metal back of its motor. Is a shield better? I dont know. One reviewer complains about hair becoming sucked into the B-airs motor. Perhaps a shield would help with this. Yet a shield is an added expense, and I would think Lasko wouldnt put one over the back of their motor if there werent some utility in doing so. 4. The Lasko has hinged connectors for mating the two halves of the fan shroud, making it an easy tool-less job to remove the shroud and clean the blades. The B-air has screws attaching the two halves of the shroud over the blade. Conclusion: Its a crap shoot. But the B-air has a surprising number of one-star reviews which claim the fan died within months of purchase--and a number of reviewers also claim that the B-air is a generic fan sold under many names. Take the risk on the B-air and you might be happy you did. If you want to hang your fan from a wall, get the Lasko. Perhaps in a year I will know more about their reliability. Right now its hard to judge, and the Lasko is a great deal more expensive. I say go with the B-air, but if it breaks Ill be back with an update.

> 24 hourI had the same exact model for around three years and if Im sleeping its on. After three years (around 9,000 hours of use) it still runs great but was not as fast on high as the new one. It turns my bedroom into a cyclone. TONS of air movement. Yes, it had some volume on high which is why I purchased this model again. Perfect white nose with a gentle airplane engine hum. I have also used this outside on our deck at night to keep mosquitoes away from the hot tub. It sits back about 12 feet from the tub and does a great job. There are cheaper fans, but I wouldnt buy anything else to save a few bucks knowing Lasko is a proven, and durable product.
