> 3 dayOkay, a space vehicle in the City line with a spacesuited figure and one in uniform. Logic is not this sets strong point. Lets say it is representing an Earthbound testing scenario, but that isnt as much fun. All logic aside, this set is fun and space aged. All of us enjoyed it and the moving arm is a nice extra touch. The vehicle design is cool looking and the build was relatively easy. This set allows some creative play after the build and sparked some conversations about the space program so a win there.

Greater than one weekMy son thoroughly enjoyed putting this together. And who doesnt like an articulated arm with a spring-loaded claw on the end for gripping stuff? It did seem kind of weird that this was in the City line of kits considering its a space vehicle. It features both an astronaut and a construction worker (or engineer maybe?) right next to each other. Either the astronaut doesnt really need to be in his astronaut suit, or the construction worker can breathe vacuum. Maybe the scene on the front is of the two of them faking a moon landing? I dont know. It took my 7-year-old about 30 minutes to put this together. Hes not super-experienced with Legos but the instructions were, as always, beautifully and precisely illustrated. General Tips For First-Timers and Small Kids: - If possible build on the floor - if building on a table, parts can roll or slide off - If building on a table, create a barrier around the build area to keep parts contained - books work well for this - Before you start assembly, separate all the parts into piles according to color. (The really small bits can be their own pile) If you want to make this a team activity with your child or younger sibling here are a couple more tips: - If the child has trouble putting the parts together, have him/her find and hand you the parts and you put them together - If the child gets bored or frustrated, take turns - you perform one step he/she does the next etc... - Dont be afraid to finish the build yourself if the child seems to be losing interest

> 3 dayAll the usual super high Lego quality youd expect, everything connects, all the pieces are there, very clear instructions, works with all the other Lego you have from the last few decades, so will probably work with something you buy next year. Reasonable price point compared to other boxes. Five stars are there is lots of play potential once youve built the thing. The rover on wheels of course, with a long robot reaching arm. The experiments. The idea that any other Lego youve got can be made into more experiments. And two space mini-figures. Well, thats where Id take off half a star if I could. Only one mini-figure is in a space-suit! What? Really? Yeah! Its a little odd once you notice it. Anyhoo, my boys are very happy playing away, so five stars it is.

> 3 dayThis was a small set that was easy to put together, while the instructions were in two books there wasnt anything that the 5 year old had issues with. They do show a couple pictures of the rover that inspired the kit at the back of one of the books (would have like a couple pages of info about real life rovers to make it a toy to get kids interested in engineering with space applications/robotics). The canopy and a control panel are tampod vs having stickers, the laptop, the solar panels and a case all get stickers. The geode has a purple clear fill that has some light holes with a little back light they will glow, there is a rubber band that comes on the claw to add light snapping action (that might be hard to find replacement if it breaks or rots time will have to tell on this).
