LEGO Ideas 21317 Disney Steamboat Willie Building Kit (751 Pieces)

Nice Disney LEGO kit. I deducted one star because the smoke stacks don’t move smoothly. But unless you’re playing with it, it really doesn’t matter. Nice big pieces and clear instructions. Easy to put together.

Our Grandson loved putting this together and liked that some of the parts move. Nice design. It looks nice on his book shelf.

This is a beautiful set, when finished, as you push the boat forward, the two flues on the top move. As one goes up, the other goes down. This is quite a tricky set to build, but well worth it. Sadly many will buy this as an investment set, which is a shame. It is designed to be built! I was surprised as I built it. I expected all the pieces to be either black or white. There are a lot of color pieces inside the boat, as well as two yellow bricks that show from the outside. It is a beautiful set. A Disney classic now as a LEGO classic. Well worth the money!

Gave this to my son for his 8th birthday this past weekend. He is a high functioning kid with autism. He loves building and loves challenges. He worked on it through out the day, so I am estimating that it took him about 6-7 hours to complete. Only included one bout of crying from frustration and a little help from mommy, but he did a great job with getting it put together.

This is an awesome set that really underscores a very important time period concerning cartoons, Disney and the like. Being this Lego set is based off of the first cartoon with sound as well as motion at the same time, I would say the set captures the essence of the cartoon and it is an amazing and great branching out for Lego. I have dealt with (and had fun with) some of the other adult-oriented Lego sets and they are also a bit challenging, as this set is. This one is a good bit easier than the Mustang set I have (thousands of pieces) but this is also one that I will leave together and really not play with. I bet this would probably just go up in value if not opened and I highly recommend considering this if you love collecting these sets.
