As an 80s kid, I was amazed when this was green-lit by Lego. Voltron is amazing both in detail of the full-sized robot or each individual lion. Its a challenging build requiring multiple hours, but the end product is absolutely worth it.

This set was a blast to put together and it rounds out my Voltron collection nicely. I wish it was modeled after the new Voltron, but I was still able to learn about the original while building it. The last booklet includes backstories on the characters and original show!

My 12-year-old had never completed such a huge Lego set, but this was a fantastic first huge set to give him. Its a really big box, definitely Big Christmas Present material, and theres a huge ooh-ahh factor of the idea of building a giant robot. The kit really breaks it down into meaningful, manageable chunks of work, so you build the lions separately, and my son did one lion per day when he was working on it. The huge joy came when he got to put them all together to make Voltron, which is a pretty impressive robot. Hes too young to know who Voltron is, but it really doesnt matter; theres not a lot of explanation needed for a giant transforming robot. If I have any criticism of the set, its that it doesnt have a lot of the cool little features you see in some of the other expensive Lego sets, like in the castles or similar sets, e.g. drawbridges, trap doors, hinged secret compartments and passageways, etc. Its just 5 lions, 4 of which are very similar to one another, and then you put them together. Theres also not a lot to do with the robot once you get it assembled, unlike a lot of the kits that have mini figures and action scenes. But if your main goal (like my sons) is to simply have the joy of following the directions and putting together a huge construction, you honestly cant go wrong with this one.

I grew up in the 80’s with Saturday morning cartoons, watching Voltron on TV. Upon seeing this at the LEGO store, it automatically flooded me with childhood memories. I bought this not only due to the reminiscent nature but to spend time with my children. At first, it seemed a bit daunting but the instructions were relatively easy to follow. All-in-all, it probably took 4 hours to build. I think I’m going to have to reclaim this from my kids and put it on a shelf in my office.

The accuracy to scale of the original toy is amazing. My son plays with this set all the time and it holds up quite well.

This Lego transformer set took my 8 year old 2 days to put together. He had been asking for a year and we got it for his birthday! Big hit!

My 8 yr old son was and still is stoked with this lego set! Its a little pricey but he got it as a birthday gift from his grandparents... not sure I would just buy it otherwise. Legos are overall expensive so we deal.

It was a complicated build for a 8 and 9 year old. But they did it and are very proud of their work. It is a cool set but not really playable as the robot... the lions are more fun.

This set was a real disappointment. It was ever so repetitive. The smaller sections being close to exactly the same as the smaller section before. The, of each section, the left half and right half were very closely matched. I didnt complete the build, and I have never been able to say that before! A real let down.

It’s time to defend the universe so get ready to form LEGO Ideas 21311 Voltron, the biggest buildable LEGO mech ever! This awesome set features buildable and highly posable black, blue, yellow, red and green lion toys with specially designed, extra-strong joints to combine them all and create the Voltron super robot, plus a huge silver-colored sword and shield that attach firmly to Voltron’s hands. Ideal for display or to recreate thrilling action from the original 1980s Japanese anime Voltron TV series and the modern DreamWorks Voltron: Legendary Defender series.
