Amazing detail, fun to build. I purchased this as a present for myself and my kids (ages 6 and 9). Though not really designed for playing with, this set does allow for some fun for the kids. It took about 2 weeks to build, working about 1-2 hours 5-6 out of 7 days of the week. It was fun to build with the kids, though some of the steps are much more difficult for the younger kids to follow (there are almost 1400 steps). It was amazing to see it come together and my kids eyes as it started to truly look like the Falcon. I enjoyed it and will continue to. Just be aware that it does have a hefty price tag. You will have to decide if it is worth the much money for you. It was for us!

I am having fun with this build and I really hate to give it anything less than a perfect score. However, the engineering here is a bit dubious, especially given the cost. The model is very heavy and some of the attachments are quite weak. Not to mention, there is no obvious support point for moving it from surface to surface so external details tend to fall off. I had to move it from one table to another and wound up losing pieces and having to partially disassemble it in order to put it right. Definitely worth a buy but ideally, youd assemble it in place and never touch it again. I could also have done without the figurines but I just gave them to my kid.

If you have $800 laying around and are in the market for a mini figure scale Millennium Falcon this is probably going to be your best bet. Also remember 2 feet by 3 feet is pretty large so I recommend buying something for your significant other or mom or whoever you live with because this is basically a piece of furniture and they might be mad at you especially when it shows up unannounced. I recommend building it in the room you plan on keeping it in because it’s not easy to fit it through a traditional doorway. This thing is amazing, beautiful, so fun to build and I guarantee once you’re done building it and even while you build it, it’ll be worth every penny to you.

Before purchasing this set, I read a lot of reviews on Amazon. Some said the set was very fragile, but after building it, I have to say that this is simply not the case at all. If you follow the directions closely and build it as instructed, this set is very sturdy. The main structural frame is extremely well designed with multiple redundancies to prevent it from coming apart (the technic pieces play a large part with this). Of course, the exterior is so well detailed with so many tiny pieces, that some of these will fall off if handled incorrectly, but as long as you dont drop the set, you dont need to worry about anything important falling apart. Not much detail work is put into the bottom of the ship - while one can view this as a drawback, it really helps with carrying the set around as you can just wrap your arms underneath without fear of disturbing any fragile sections. This Millennium Falcon is a gorgeous set to look at and a challenging build. Well worth the $800 price tag!

I guess my disappointment is my own problem, but I had expected something far more inwardly detailed than what Lego ended up creating. The base is a husk that is sometimes pockmarked with known details, and then littered with Lego junk everywhere else. Once you get it all put together, you can lift odd sections of the “roof” to reveal some of the important locations, but none of the connecting tissue exists. From a distance, this puzzle looks complete, until you find that inside the corridors are simple stickers thereby negating the need to build them. There’s a lot of hollow room inside, room that exists simply as structure, but could have been form AND function with a few more pieces. Sure, to get an accurately sized model, it’d need to be twice this size, which should tell you just how big the actual falcon would have to be. Is this good? Sure? Is it awesome? For those that didn’t put it together and just see it, yes. For the person that wants a fully fleshed out falcon, this isn’t it at all. Personally if I hadn’t been drinking tequila and thinking “this will be amazing” then I likely never would have hit purchase and I would have been better for it. Lego could have done better. But they didn’t. And that is not worth nearly a thousand dollars.

Its expensive, but quite a challenge. Took a weekend with the kids to put together. We had a blast!

Update: FINALLY built this set and it is an AMAZING build! Some notes about how this is packaged. if you purchase this set pay close attention to the tape that seals the box. One side is red and the other green to note open on the green taped side. This puts the manual at the top of the box so it is easily lifted out. Open the box with that side up to prevent the manual from falling out and possibly damaging pages. One the manual is removed, four boxes are located inside with each containing 1/4 of the Millennium Falcon pictured when the boxes are together. One each box is a quote from STAR WARS about the Falcon. Each of the four boxes contains sets of bags. Surprisingly the bags arent in order by box. There are 17 bags for the set. The Lego 1989 Batmobile has 24 bags with less than half the pieces of the Falcon. There are multiple bags for each number so there could be 4 to 5 bags labeled as bag 1. So MANY more bags than just 17 technically. They at least kept all the same numbered bags in the same box so you will find all of bag 1 in a single box and not some in one box and the remainder in others. You will find like bag 1 in one box but bag 2 in another. There are also some unmarked bags for some of the larger and higher count pieces. The first two bags build the frame. Bags 3-9 build out the internal components of the ship and the outside outline of the ship. The hull of the ship top and underneath is assembled in in sections and independent of the frame so you can set aside the large frame as the hull is assembled and installed in sections until the end of the build. The manual as well as videos on the Lego site show how to carry/relocate the set. Caution should be exercised in carrying it or the integrity of the build can be affected or parts can crumble away. Top hull simply lay on in sections are have one technic piece that fits into another technic piece in the frame. The detail looks amazing. it is a display piece and it not for play as some Lego can be. There are some MOC instructions or Lego stands are available to display this beast on its side but the landing feet typically mist be removed to do so. There are also plexiglass of plastic stands out there are well. it certainly will take up less space displaying on its side but if there is room and in my opinion it looks great in landed position. Its not the biggest Lego in piece count anymore since the Coliseum was released but it does still seem to hold the record for the most expensive set and may also occupy more space than the Coliseum. I have not purchased the USC Star Destroyer but think the Falcon is a much better set because ti does have internal details. The Star Destroyer is $100 less with a much higher price per piece. More than likely the higher per piece is due to the number large pieces involved. Theres way more detail to the Falcon than Star Destroyer so the Falcon has a higher recommendation in my opinion. If you youre an avid Lego fan and dont mind the price, its recommended to pick this up while its still available and at regular pricing (at least directly from Lego) before it retires. Original: I have to admit, it hasnt been built yet. Currently it is saved either as a collectible or the ultimate build when the time is right but the set is amazingly huge. The box is approximately 25-30lbs. up until the Lego Colosseum was released, it was the largest Lego set by piece count. It may still hold the record as the most expensive set released to date and possibly the largest in size/diameter. That may take a little more measuring to ensure thats the case but over 7500 pieces is amazing. It comes in a large square box with three smaller boxes with printed images inside. Surprisingly it has only 19 bags for this many pieces. The Lego 1989 Batmobile has approximately 3300 pieces and has 24 bags. Instructions for handling this beast are given. There are only certain ways to pick it up and move it around so its not designed to be a play set. Some MOC creators design stands to display it on its side for better viewing and to take up less display space. Thats an option if you want to take this set on but have limited space to display. Picked this up at normal pricing as many sellers are now overpricing this set that is still available from Lego and has not retired yet.

I bought this for my son for Christmas and was very glad I did. He’s a very advanced lego builder for an 11 year-old, but I was thinking I would have to do the lion’s share of work. He ended up putting it together in about 14 hours over three days. I supervised the build for about three of those hours. Make sure you have a large spot identified to build it on and a place to put it afterwards. This thing is quite fragile and you won’t be moving it from place to place often. The instructions are amazing. It’s a full, spiral-bound book with the history of the Falcon and it’s specs along with the directions. What made this really shine was the custom light kit from Bricksmax we bought separately. My son also put this in and seeing it lit up really adds the final touches. This thing is awesome for stop motion videos which my kids love doing. When they’re done we’ll put it in a stand in our bookshelf and may get the Star Destroyer but it won’t be anywhere near as detailed a set as this is.

This master piece is just down right AMAZING!!! It is so beautiful just with the box itself. Packaging was great for being delivered fast. I bought this for my brother and I, hopefully we don’t fight over it like people do over family property lol. Anyways my brother almost had a heart attack just from seeing the box thank god he’s still alive to help me build it. Me being 18 I ran to my apartments office begging for the box it was an awesome feeling of excitement. It is expensive but it sure is worth the memories that will come along with it. Thank you lego and the Star Wars fan base! BUY IT DONT HESITATE
