Liquitex Professional Fluid Medium, 946ml (32-oz), Gloss

The colors pop!

I have used Liquitex Gloss Medium for years on small paintings - from tiny to 11 x 14 - so I dont know about using it on larger canvases. For my purposes (glazing, extending paint, protecting surface of paintings) it has produced consistently excellent results. What I like best is that it adds a vibrance, vitality and new life to what are normally dull matte finishes. If I want to build up multiple layers of translucent color, this product allows me to do that with a result that dramatically enhances the look of depth and even quality of the finished product. I will add that you may need to try more than one way of applying it. Do not use a sponge brush or roller unless you want hundreds of air bubbles...and it can ruin your work. If using as a glaze, I pour a small amount directly onto the dry acrylic painting and brush on with a high quality 1 to 1.5 wide brush, vertically. Then when that dries, I do the same horizontally. You can do several layers as long as it dries completely between layers. And you have to experiment with how much to use. If you use too much you will be able to see brush strokes and more of a textured surface. So there is a learning curve, as there is with any product you havent used before. Once I stopped using the sponge-type brush, I didnt have any more problems. You have to work fairly quickly, too, if you dont thin it with water, because it dries fast. I have seen other people try to use it on furniture like a varnish, but its not meant for that and would not hold up. But it would work for craft products that do not receive heavy wear.

Does what it says it does, Great for portraiture to give time for blending.
