Liquitex is a large company with quality products. Ive never had any issues or defects, but I think if I did, they would make it right. I believe I used this glazing medium on a painting with added gold leaf. The glaze worked well as a top coat. My paint hadnt dried completely before I added this, so it did pick up some pigment and the glaze was tinted, which turned out pretty cool. I would recommend this as a quality product, but would be interested in finding something less expensive.

I use this in mixed media work, mainly as a final layer to tone down the shine of acrylics. It is slightly opaque and somewhat mutes the colours, which is great if thats the effect youre looking for. You can also work on top of it as it has a slight tooth similar to gesso. Its quite fluid, but it will still show brush strokes. If thats undesirable, you can apply it with a plastic card or just use your fingers. In regular applications, its meant to be mixed with paint, but I havent tried that yet. I prefer using it as a matte varnish, even though that is not its intended purpose! It will get rid of the glossy reflection of magazine images or photos as well. Its great if youre looking for a mattifying medium. Some people use this to create a faux-encaustic (wax) effect mixed with other mediums and paint. Thats definitely something I want to explore!

I bought the medium to transfer jet ink pictures to wood. It worked very good.

No joke I bought a bottle of the old design back in high school and I’m still using it today. I use it to thin my acrylic to make really thin eyelashes on dolls. It makes it smooth and doesn’t bead up like water does. I’m actually switching to using gouache and it works the same. Actually it makes the gouache more permanent and less water washable when it dries (but still easier to wipe when wet Wich is good when you can’t get the right lines). Actually I might finally buy a new bottle. Even tho I have some left I think there would have to be some kind of chemical change after a decade of use. I use a few drops to thin blacks and browns for hair per doll if you’re wondering how it’s lasted so long

Great value in this large size, though beware...there are no opening instructions. Fortunately, some lovely you-tuber of the non-plant variety affirmed that you do indeed pull off (pliers are indispensible here) the two side tabs in order for the lid to simply lift off, whilst it easily snaps back shut when finished with. In my tubs case, the gloss medium had formed a thick plastic layer inside which had effectively glued the lid on, so even when the tabs were off I had to use a great deal of force (on a tightly fitting lid with nowhere to find a purchase) to open the product. I just thought Id add, that Ive partially solved the problem of decanting by using measuring cups from the kitchen! Not ideal, but you can sit one inside another to avoid mess and waste.

Im an artist, and I love this glaze. I mix it with paints, and use it to layer color, to build the color. Mixes very easily.

helps to give my artwork a little bit of pop. generally, i prefer a matte finish, but if i use glazing medium pared with a liquitex varnish, i can get strong jewel tones (it looks like i am painting with liquid gemstones). trying not to abuse it too much, but i love this stuff and am glad i went with the big bottle.
