Nice for short range. I am using it outside to control a 1 HP water pump for watering. It does not always work on the first press and range seems about 100 to 150 feet. In fairness it is not direct line of sight. I would guess that is the meaning of outdoors and the issue is that the range is affected by passing through materials other than air, indoors or out. I have a unit I bought on Amazon with four channels of DC relays which for about the same money came with two remotes and has superior range and works every time, so it is possible to have better range.

These Loratap devices use LoRa communication protocol in the 915mhz band. In my experience, they are MUCH more reliable and responsive than any of my other switches (which use 433mhz without LoRa). Another benefit of the Loratap devices is that they remember the switch state after a power failure. This feature is essential for my needs, and Loratap is the only brand Ive found that does that. All the other remote control switches revert to OFF after a power failure (not talking about wi-fi/smart switches, just basic wireless remote control switches). This specific plug adapter has a good form factor and doesnt interfere with the adjacent outlet (as opposed to the round mini plug, which blocks adjacent outlets on a standard wall box). My only nitpick is that Loratap doesnt have a remote control in a standard form factor, like a decora-style rocker. Nothing wrong with the round magnetic-back remote control, its small and works well. But if they made something that fit behind a standard switch plate (with/without the wall box), I would buy a bunch of them.

I do not believe that I have ever installed anything like this that was quite this easy. 1) Open box 2) Take out plug unit and remote 3) Plug in plug unit 4) Plug your device into plug unit 5) Push On button on remote 6) Repeat as necessary.

Makes my life a little easier. I plugged my cooling fan into it & carry the remote with me, now I don’t have to get up to turn fan off and on. Working fine so far, in fact I purchased another one. This has been my experience with this product but keep in mind it may not be yours, hope this helps .

This was the perfect replacement for an old X10 remote light module that no longer worked. The X10 remote had always been tricky at best and often unreliable. We use the remote control outlet adapter to control flood lights on our detached garage. (The lights are only used occasionally, so dusk-to-dawn was not an option.) I just plugged in the adapter, plugged in the cord from the flood lights and IT WORKED. No set up necessary. So far, I love it.

Plug/switch do all that is needed, and without flaw, every day reliable. So very happy!
