> 3 dayThis is an extension cord. Thats all that is in the box. It has no way to connect with your smart phone, as advertised. This is not a smart plug. To make it a smart plug, you will need to purchase an additional component called a Smart Bridge, which is currently an additional $80. This is only mentioned in the fine print of this page. That doubles the cost of your project. This is a scam.

> 3 dayLutron is synonymous for reliability. This is rock solid. Weather proofing is good and it integrates seamlessly with HomeKit. You can run automations to turn devices on and off, set schedules, etc. A bit pricey but that is the only drawback. Would definitely recommend.

> 3 dayI could not rate the Alexa use as I am an App biggot, but like the the rest of the Caséta system it works perfectly with Siri so it should work with Alexa as well. Installation was simple. Plug it into an standard US duplex outlet. Plug the load into the other connection on the device. That is all. You can then press the waterproof button to turn the device on and off. To activate the remote function, open the app on your phone. Click the dropdown to reach add the device option. Select the device and follow the instructions on the phone. When you have completed all steps as instructed. You can turn on and off your device with the app on your cell phone. In addition, when you next open your Home App on your iPhone the new device will show up and can be added to all your regular scenes or automations. For those not familiar with the Caséta system, you will need to get a starter kit so you have a bridge. Without the bridge none of the Caséta products can be configured. They will work as local device controllers only. For Apple Siri integration, you also need an iPad or Apple TV you can leave connected to the same wireless system as the bridge and the bridge must be connected to the internet for proper setup.

Greater than one weekMy house has about 100 HomeKit compatible devices, so its very important that they work reliably. I tried smart switches by Eve, iDevices, and Wemo, but they didnt always respond when I asked Siri to turn them on or off. However, this Lutron Outdoor Smart Plug works great every time. It responds quickly and reliably, probably because it uses Lutron Clear Connect wireless rather than Bluetooth or WiFi. I like this switch so much that Im even using it indoors. Its a little bulky for indoor use, but the reliability makes it worth it! Keep in mind that youll need a Lutron Caseta Hub to use this.

07-06-2025I already have the Lutron Caseta system to control several switches. This also integrates nicely with Apple HomeKit. I was unhappy with some other outdoor WiFi switches that always became unresponsive and had to be power cycled to get back on the network. I use these to control my two pond pumps (including automation) and they have been flawless.

> 3 dayEverything all the other posters said is right, it’s well made and easy to use and reliable. Just putting this note here for anyone else who is buying too fast and skimming instead of reading (like I was) - the price does NOT mean you have every feature possible. It doesn’t dim. Had it plugged in and running my patio decor when I realized it can’t dim the lights - ugh. Already threw away box and everything. Only outdoor smart plug with dimmable features that connects to Apple HomeKit I could find is WAY cheaper, so I guess that’s my silver lining. This well-made, expensive item is going into a drawer for storage until I have another use (that doesn’t need dimming). Side note - have been transitioning to the Caseta product line and am really liking the reliability and functionality.

> 3 dayThis is a great solution for just on/off functionality. However, there is no built in functionality for using the Caseta Pico remote with dimmer functionality. Was easy to program and appeared to be well built. However I needed dimming capability with our string lights on our terrace. Thought this would be the ticket along with a Pico remote, but not to be so returned it.
