Mario Kart 8 (Nintendo Wii U)

Excellent game. Bought for my niece. She loved it and price was cheapest around.

most people will have wii remotes so 4 player is an option and its the most fun ever. I keep thinking I should let my kids win one soon though

Just brilliant, love it! Ive not played Mario Kart for years but its not lost any of its charm. Its the king of multiplayer, online works a dream too. I was expecting it to be crap online with wireless lag etc but Ive enjoyed smooth lag free gameplay. Highly recommended!

Hours, hours and hours of fun. For (group of) adults or kids alike. Best multiplayer game around.

Im an avid fan of Mario Kart and this didnt disppapoint. Much. Graphically, its amazing! And most of the courses are really well designed (some are a little boring to be honest). The only real niggle I have is that this whole anti-gravity-going-up-the-walls thing that they were harping on about before the game came out is actually pretty uneventful. The camera stays fixed behind you (understandably to stop you feeling nautious while playing) which means that you dont really gain any notion that youre upside down etc unless you take in the background. I thought it would feel a lot more epic, but youre so wrapped in where youre driving / whos in front / where did that shell come from that you dont really have time to appreciate the crazy physics. A lovely idea, which looked great on the promotional videos, but not really that awesome when you actually play it. That being said, the game is still really enjoyable and it looks stunning. The online racing is great fun, and the offline multiplayer is a heck of a lot better than Mario Kart Wii. Definitely one of the best in the series, but not THE best I dont think. That title still stays with Double Dash!!

Always been a Mario Kart fan, so there was little doubt I wouldnt like this. But this game is truly phenomenal !! Terrific graphics, with super smooth animation (the characters have so much, no other way to say it, character). The music is scored by an orchestra, gravity defying gameplay, spot on controls, lots of options for tuning the game. The only downside, is the battle mode, which is now based on re-purposed tracks rather than closed in arenas. Highly recommended.
