Mario Party Superstars - Nintendo Switch

> 3 dayI havent really enjoyed a Mario Party since 7 or 8. I thought maybe I had become jaded and only liked the old ones due to nostalgia. The ones after that changed up the formula, but unfortunately, not for the better. Super Mario Party, the previous Switch Mario Marty, had a lot of good ideas and was a return to classic form. It even had good minigames on average. But bad balance (and thats saying something for this series) having only four lackluster maps really drained the fun out of the experience. Im happy to say that Superstars delivers on the complete experience, despite being clear nostalgia bait. The minigame selection is for the most part perfect. The boards are interesting classics, with slight tweaks to make them more reasonable for items and innovations after the game they occurred in. Even the hub world has heart thats been sorely missing. The items are better balanced in general. The master CPU AI is not completely pathetic. They even made lucky spaces actually useful (Im still mad that in Super Mario Party nobody thought that awarding only 4 coins on a lucky space would make them worth less than a blue space on the final 5 turns, what were they thinking). In short? It might be the best Mario Party of all time. Highly recommend.

> 3 dayEnjoy hours of fun playing Mario Party Superstars! Whether you play with multiple players, up to 4 people or the different characters as the computer. Its also exciting to see who wins after receiving the bonus stars at the end of the game!

> 3 dayAs someone who has loved the series for longer than I care to say, this is a letdown. This could have easily been a $20 DLC pack on Super Mario Party, but instead we get charged $60 for the most anemic entry in the console series. Considering how much I’ve played the older titles this collection pulls from, the mini games got boring quick. And with only five maps to choose from, and no meaningful unlock-able content (hope you like encyclopedia pages, stickers, and soundtrack music) this feels half-baked at best. When you can play through all a $60 game has to offer in one day, something is terribly wrong. Super Mario Party is easily the superior of the Switch titles, in my opinion. And despite other reviewers saying online is great this time around, I have not experienced that. Even with high-speed fiber optic internet, online is still unplayable for me. The lag is so intense that not a single mini game I played was able to run anywhere near a reasonable speed and run until the end without booting me back to the main menu. Maybe directly connecting to Ethernet would solve that problem, but the classic Switch and anyone with a Lite does not have that option. I recommend WarioWare: Get It Together! over this any day of the week - it is much more exciting to play, and comes with more layers of challenges and play styles than this title.

> 3 dayIMPORTANT |: Joy-Con are not required to play any minigames in this release. ONLINE MULTIPLAYER with worldwide random matchmaking is INCLUDED AT LAUNCH! |-> Gotta say I couldnt help but toss up a photo of me wearing my safety glove as I get ready for some joystick-flailing mayhem in minigames such as Tug o War and Cast Aways from some of the best-loved Parties of Marios past!! (The twirling of a joystick [which led to multiple days of tender palm back during my youth] playstyle is still intact in this new release.) I havent played any releases in the Mario Party franchise since the release of Mario Party 8 on Wii. That was many years ago, but I can wholeheartedly say this release has me stoked with the desire of stickin my toe back in the water to end up diving in for a purchase. Mario Party 1-3 were Nintendo 64 releases, and boards from those three games are amazingly remade in this (alongside 100 Minigames that span from MP1 thru MP10)!! [Early datamined leaks of game files show there being a possibility of atleast two more boards being added to the game at some point - that would be WONDERFUL if Nintendo treated players to occasional board/minigame DLC additions to help keep things feeling lively and exciting.] ... If you never played Mario Party before the era of Wii, then Superstars might feel like a slight curveball in challenge design and how the boards operate within move sets. The glorious Bonus star is BACK in this release, which is great to see!! Call it the kid in me that longs for the Good ol days of 4-player splitscreen and such, but I much preferred the playstyle/challenges that MP1-3 presented that often kept me coming back for countless hours of sheer fun had. If you enjoyed any of the previous 3+ entries in the Mario Party franchise, then I can easily recommend this as a title worth checking out!

> 3 dayLove this game! It’s easy to learn, the mini game selection is great, and the controls are simple. Fantastic to play both locally or online with friends and family. I love the ability to do 4 player online where two systems can have two local players each!

> 3 dayI opened the case and there was no game in it, so I ordered a replacement. I would recommend filming the opening of your game for proof.

Greater than one weekThis was a Christmas gift for my two kids. They love the game. The minigames are easily accessible and most are a lot of fun. Their favorite is Mt. Minigames where you get to practice the different games without playing the game boards. I’ve joined in playing these games which make for quick fun without engaging in the board games that take about 45 minutes. Only criticism is there is not a large variety of games boards (only 5) and there is not a lot of unlockable content. Highly recommended for Mario fans and kids under under age 10.
