Mario Party Superstars - Nintendo Switch

Greater than one weekAfter seeing some really great reviews, I got this for my Mario Party-obsessed son. The kid has had his entire family playing Super Mario Party daily for the last few months. So it came as quite a shock when this game landed without much fanfare from anyone in our household. It has a few things to hold over Super Mario Party, but not enough to justify the purchase (in my opinion). Lets compare what each game does better... MARIO PARTY SUPERSTARS: *Menus and games move faster *The single dice goes all the way to 10 (instead of 6) *No motion controlled mini-games (this is actually a con in my house) *More maps (by 1), and lots of classic mini-games *The Bonus Star settings are tweakable and optional SUPER MARIO PARTY: *Challenge mode *Team mode *Bonus mini games *River survival *A rhythm game mode *More characters and unlocks *Unique character dice, plus earnable friends on the gameboard *A sense of control regarding the outcome of dice rolls For my money, I appreciate Super Mario Partys strategic gameplay far more than this ones on-rails, RNG feel. I also wish Superstars offered even half the game modes that Super does. Super also has more characters, plus things to chase. Did I mention that the mini games in Super are mostly unique to the game mode youre playing? It keeps things feeling fresh. I really do appreciate that Superstars did such a good job with nostalgia, and letting you create games with your ideal ruleset. I just wish the devs didnt strip away all the stuff that made the other game so much fun. Superstars feels like playing Candyland, where Super Mario Party is closer to a Monopoly experience. If nothing else, both games feel very distinct from one another.

16-04-2025Wanna know what’s better than having your family mad at you for a regular reason? Having them hate you with the deepest part of their soul because you took their star on one of the final turns which makes you win. 10/10 would ruin any family/friend function again.

> 3 dayThis is fun game for the whole family to play together. I bought it as I have been a Mario fan for several years ever since the nintendo entertainment system came out back in the 80s.

> 3 dayThis game as well as the super Mario party game are great! My ONLY complaint is that my family and I wish we had more boards to play! It’s such a tease!!!

Greater than one weekLove this game! It’s easy to learn, the mini game selection is great, and the controls are simple. Fantastic to play both locally or online with friends and family. I love the ability to do 4 player online where two systems can have two local players each!

Greater than one weekI have two kids, 7 and 3. They absolutely LOVE this game! And the nostalgia for me, a mom in my 30s who grew up playing Mario Party (at least the first 9), is unbeatable. I wish they had extra boards and maybe some different mini games and more characters, but those points are not worth knocking out stars for. The game is always fun. I especially like that we can play online with others!

> 3 dayI love this game! My boyfriend and I spent most of the break playing this game. It has a game board theme where you play other players by rolling dice, earning coins, buying and stealing stars, and landing on good and bad spots. A really fun way to have some fun with your partner or friends!

> 3 dayWe purchased this to play with my Mario loving 8 year old. The game is way smaller then I expected. It made me miss the original Mario Party.
