I truly enjoy watching this movie its sad, but also a very wonderful story of the life of a very special young man. I loved all the actors who played the main charters, and feel the did an excellent job on the story of this extraordinary young man and how his life was. It proves that people with many disabilites can often bring people together.I love this movie!

For all the commenters giving this one star & complaining that it isnt the theatrical version: This is Peter Bogdanovitchs original cut of the film, with the Bruce Springsteen music that the real Rocky Dennis loved, which was replaced by Bob Seger music by the studio. Peter Bogdanovitch spent painful years wrangling with the studio interference, restoring MASK to his original version, & getting it re-released. Forget about the bloody theatrical version that the studio schlepped out. Open your mind to the work of one of our great film directors. If you dont know Bogdanovitchs other films, you must take a deep dive: starting with TARGETS, THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, etc. Watch him in Orson Welles THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND. Read his superb books. The present moment of Peter Bogdanovitchs work continues beyond his lifetime.

Ive always loved this movie but never could find it in great condition, but I have it now and will probably watch it many times over, and I usually dont repeat movies on a general basis. Just love the story and how well the actors represented the true reality of the Rocky Denison story. What a fantastic core of actors that portrayed the family and extended family so well. Major cudos to Cher & Sam Elliot!
