Ive been a user of MasterCook for a decade or more. Years ago, serious development stopped on the software, and they converted to an annual subscription model at about $30/year. I was annoyed but inertia kept me with them. The latest news is that MasterCook 2020 is due this month, and the new cost will be $100 to $125 (or more) per year. This is another example, like Quicken or MS Office 365, of companies taking mature software, converting it to the SaaS (Software as a Service) model, and milking what users remain. After considerable research, I have converted to Paprika Recipe Manager 3, which seamlessly imported all 500 of my MasterCook Recipes. Paprika has every single feature that I wanted - and more. Plus, its much simpler to use, even on multiple devices. The direct import of recipes from websites is particularly robust. I have zero association of Paprika, btw.

Although the interface isnt as appealing as it was back when MC was being produced by Sierra, it still has the same functionality and ease of use. Ive been using this product for more years than I can count and am happy I broke down and finally upgraded.

This is an excellent product. I have used versions 9 and 14 and not version 15. You can import a complete recipe into mastercook.com and then download it to your computer without a lot of keystrokes. Also the price from this seller is $10.00 higher than what others are selling it for.

I bought this software because I am no longer able to access my recipes using Living Cookbook. I thought this would be an easy transition since I had a backup copy of my Living Cookbook recipes. The other reviews of this software talked about the good support for importing LCB files into Mastercook. Once I received my software, I was disappointed to learn that I had 5 updates that I needed to download and apply. In addition, in order to import my recipes, I either have to use a piece of free shareware (that isnt working for me yet), or pay $75 for Mastercook support to do the conversion. There is no built-in feature of the software for doing this conversion. In fact, the Help FAQ says that you will need to pay a fee if you require lengthy support time.

I had a lot of old recipes in my old PC created by and older version. The company doesnt support upgrading these files unless I upgrade my license with a $75 fee. Not worth it. Wish I hadnt wasted my money.

THIS IS THE BEST PROGRAM OUT THERE FOR SAVING RECIPES AND COOKBOOKS. IT IS SO SIMPLE TOUSE AND GRABBING RECIPES ON THE WEB IS A BREEZE. I HAVE OWNED ALL MASTERCOOKS PROGRAMS SINCE THEY CAME OUT YEARS AND YEARS AGO. AND I HAVE OVER 1,300 COOKBOOKS SAVED RIGHT NOW TO THIS GREAT PROGRAM. IT IS SO EASY TO SEARCH TO FIND A RECIPE ONCE YOU HAVE SAVED IT AND IT IS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO PRINT A GROCERY LIST. I LOVE TAKING A NICE READABLE PRINT LIST TO THE GROCERY STORE. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS GREAT PROGRAM. I LOVE IT!!

My husband bought the original Mastercook program for me years ago & we had to update to this new one. I love how you can input new recipes or create your own ones with this program. And I like how you can create your own personal cookbooks with the program. What I also like about the program is within a recipe you can add what Cuisine it is & what type of recipe it is. That allow you to search within the cookbook of the type of Cuisine you want to make and search for a description of the recipe. Italian, Pasta. Italian, dessert. Southern, side dishes. Etc. You input the type of cuisine & you can input as many description within the cookbook for the recipes. The list is endless. I love the program. So much easier than try to sort through Pinterest for recipes without all the popup ads.

Im not as enthusiastic about this program as so many others here. It looks very rudimentary compared to similar programs. It works, but the way it is set up it looks like something from the early 90s, which is pretty much the stone age for software. I had a problem where the program became corrupted somehow. It was working fine one day and wouldnt boot the next and I hadnt done anything in the meantime. Luckily I had only started to use it, but I would be very annoyed if I had a lot of recipes loaded already. Tech support did answer me and told me to delete it and reload which I had already done. When I asked if they knew why this happened because I didnt want to lose recipes again they blamed me for not waiting until talking to them first. Huh? I did exactly the same thing they told me to do and lost the recipes. I thought their response was a bit snippy, but at least they did answer me in a timely manner. I would not buy this program again though.
