Maxone 250GB Ultra Slim Portable External Hard Drive HDD USB 3.0 for PC, Mac, Laptop, PS4, Xbox one - Charcoal Grey

I bought this w/o a specific need - I thought I might transition from another external HD to this one for Mac Time Machine incremental backups. I eventually did, but it was likely a half year or more before I started using it. I did my initial Time Machine backup, with incremental backups anywhere from 1-2x per month to sometimes once every three months. I may have done 16-20 incremental backups over 2+ years (only connected/powered during the backups - never prolonged power to it). Apple inexplicably wiped my laptops HD clean during a minor repair & luckily this external saved my bacon. Literally immediately after saving my bacon, it gave up the ghost & died (could not be recognized by two Macs nor a Windows computer). Not sure why it died, but it did. Pros: Small. Lightweight. Easy to use. And 1TB(!). Cons: I typically get longer longevity from my external HDs. Given the amount this was used, I would have expected this to last a while longer. In summary it did serve its purpose. However Im replacing it with a newer technology external SanDisk Extreme SSD - with a super-tiny footprint - at 2.5x the co$t. Overall Id say I got my value out of the Maxone for the one time that I really needed it! As of December 2021, you can buy the same size 1TB external - for about the same price - that has a rugged rubberized exterior skin that is safe to throw in a backpack or briefcase & is semi-safe if it drops 1-meter. Whatever you decide - chose an external HD, BUY it, and most importantly backup your data!

I ordered my product in august 2022 and it stopped working by June 2023. Would a company rep reach out?

I was really surprised how easy it was to transfer my pictures and data to this external drive. I watched all different ways online to figure it out and when it arrived, I followed the instructions on the enclosed pamphlet, and it was really easy. Love the color too :)

Great backup storage device. Very easy to load photos, documents, etc.

Plugged it into my Dell laptop and it popped right up as D drive. I started moving pictures over then performed the safe removal step and plugged it back in just to make sure everything was compatible and I could open my pictures. It worked great! Thousands of pictures transferred over in about 10mins.

Fire easy to use

I ran out of space on my laptop for sims 4, so I store the game on this hard drive. It works perfectly fine. The only thing I dislike is sometimes it’s hard to eject from my computer. It will say that it’s still in use when it is not. Good for the price !

I bought this several months ago and waited to write a review because of the unreliable reports I got on several other external hard drives. This is about a year old, and I have had no problems with it. I use it to back up my computer and can rely on its continued use.

We had our video tapes from 20+ years ago converted to digital via iMemories (check them out.) 19 tapes were about 50 GB, and we did not want to spend a yearly fee to keep them on their website, which is easy to use. But not as straight-forward and problem free as this maxone 2.5 External HDD 500 GB. Im not a computer slouch, nor am I an expert, but either of those types would appreciate this product. Just plug it into your lap top, Mac, PC, and boom; there it is in the file icon thingy area with all your other stuff. This thing processed moving my video files (which I downloaded last week from iMemories) in a matter of minutes. Both zipped and unzipped. I dont know what that means really, but I have had issues opening zipped files before, so I copied the unzipped ones into a separate folder. Im happy it was stress-free because I sure didnt think it would be. I think there are 1TB options and higher on this product as well. Go get one of these! Im going to back up my taxes for the past seven years next.
