Maxpow Qty 1 Hood Gas Charged Lift Support Shocks Strut 6466 Compatible with Solara 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008

I checked local Toyota dealer pricing for hood strut for my 07 Solara, Dealer is charging $95. Obviously this is good pricing. just installed on my car. seems to be working good. Do not burn extra $75 bucks.

Installed easily. Looks good, works well. Just installed will see how it stands up.

The strut is very nice but not that easy to install. Once I took out the old one I could see how it was susposed to go but it looks like a Toyota shop would have a special purpose tool to pull out the metal band that holds the end of the strut to the ball attached to the car. I was able use a screw driver to lever up the band to release the ball and then tap the new band down to grip the ball. The new part is pretty much exactly like the original and It seems to work very nicely.

Side by side comparison shows the compressed length is too long, won’t allow hood to close.
