Mcbazel Surecom SW-102 Digital VHF/UHF 125-525Mhz Antenna Power & SWR Meter

Surprisingly solid and well made. I got very reasonable power, VSWR, and frequency measurements in the Marine VHF band 156-162 MHz. The frequency counter function provided the expected xmit frequency within .001 MHz, the resolution of the device. VSWR into a dummy load and a known good antenna were near 1:1. A known poor antenna measured 19:1. All as expected. Not a precision shop instrument but great for the money and adequate to verify good transmitter and antenna function.

THIS SWR METER IS NOT EASY TO USE THE INFO IS POORLY WRITTEN HARD TO UNDERSTAND SO I GAVE UP AFTER 5 DAYS OF TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK, SO I GAVE UP AND ORDER A STANDARD SWR METER ONE THE HAVE FORWARD AND REVERSE SWITCH ON IT THAT IS ALL I NEED TO DO A SWR SETTING.

Ive been wanting a digital SWR meter to augment my MFJ-893 analog meter, and I cant currently justify the cost of a fancy digital broadband unit. For $50, I half-expected this not to work. After watching a demo video on YouTube and doing some research, I decided to give it a try, and I cant say I regret it. I wouldnt trust this as my sole meter—not without first calibrating it against a known-good source, and I havent owned it long enough to know if its going to drift—but its perfect as a second reference when taking multiple readings from a questionable transceiver. The great thing about this item is that its the perfect size and weight to connect to an HT with a set of optional N to SMA adapters, which enables you hold the radio as you actually would during normal operation. This obviously makes a huge difference with regard to getting accurate SWR readings from handheld antennas. Most of my handheld/mobile gear doesnt include proper metering, so I expect to get a lot of use out of this.

Works great and I have not had any issues or problems with this unit. It does a lot for the money and I have tested many setups with it. It is small and easy to use and can charge from a usb port.

For 50 bucks, you are getting a heck of a good deal. Its quite accurate with all my vhf/uhf radios, I like the fact you can use this to check your walkie talkie antenna swr. All in all, an excellent deal, easy to use and the battery life is quite long. Of course, I only use it when I need it, so I dont really have to charge it much. But seriously, its nice little unit that 10 years ago would have been inaccessible to me price wise.

Meter does not come calibrated, so if you can not do this yourself then spend more money and buy a better meter. Other then this the unit is very nice for the size and price.
