07-06-2025I am very interested in automating a lot of things in my home, so I researched many brands of smart devices. I did not want to have to install several apps for different manufacturers of smart devices, or be involved with different ecosystems, so I was looking for one brand to rule them all. Meross seems to fit the bill. They make the most smart devices from what I can tell, but more importantly quality devices that are easy to setup. They support all the big automated options: Alexa, Google and IFTTT. These smart plugs are no exception. All it takes is a few clicks in the app to connect to the device and add it to your network, once youve given your Wi-Fi credentials to the app. You give it a name, choose an icon for it and youre done. Once you have multiple devices in the app, you can put them in groups to control them together. Then you can create scenes where you can specify the state of any or all of the devices. You can also create schedules for the scenes to automate morning or night routines, or whatever you want. I can tell Google (nest mini) to turn off the living room lamps, or all the lights, and this works flawlessly. The plugs also work with Alexa and IFTTT, which is a custom interface in which you can create rules that connect to other services or apps for further automation. I have used these with the Meross app, google integration and IFTTT, all have worked as expected. They are on the large side, and will block other plugs on a power strip or surge protector if not generously spaced, and depending on how theyre oriented. That may just be the industry Norm size though. One thing I wish it had is a 5ghz wifi antenna. I was really trying to weed out 2.4ghz devices from my home, and had almost succeeded. But alas, it is a necessary evil. This also may be a design limitation, due to 5ghz requiring at least one extra antenna that would make the plug even bigger. I have found creative uses for these. My favorite so far is for my reciever. It has a feature where it stops responding to its remote app every once in awhile, with the solution being to disconnect and reconnect the power cable. The manufacturer considers this not an issue. Since the plug is behind a huge entertainment center, it was a real pain to do this every time. Now I can comfortably click it off with a button on my phone, or tell Google to turn the receiver off, and back on again. Which is pretty satisfying. These plugs are also very cost-effective. They cost less per plug than one of those timers you plug into an outlet. This easily replaces that device for less money and has infinitely more capability. Since purchasing these plugs Ive had no reliability issues with them, but one time the power went out for a few minutes and came back on. When the power restored, all the plugs continuously turned on and off until I pressed the power button on each to get them to stop, then restored the wifi so they were happy. This was a bit concerning to me as I watched my receiver power on and off about 10 times. Nothing came of it, but that is one issue I hope can be fixed through the app. If I had not been home Im not sure how long that would have gone on. Since purchasing these Ive aqcuired an outdoor rated 2 plug power strip, smart dimmer switch and smart garage door opener. Ive been happy with all of them. Im already planning on getting 3-way smart dimmer switches and more wall plugs. Meross seems like a very future proof choice and so far Im really happy with my Meross powered home.

> 3 dayThese smart plugs work great. The only reason I gave it four stars is because they do not connect to the Tuya app. Other than that, I love these smart plugs.

> 3 dayI dont know about their longevity, and I may be back again to modify this review, but on day one, right after setup and initial testing, these get an easy 5 star. Its a pleasure to retire my old Wemo devices, which were a royal pain to setup and maintain, then finally ALL died at once and refused to be re-setup. These on the contrary, I could have setup with my eyes closed. They just worked... I say wow again. If you dont see an update to this down the road, then they are still working like a charm. Its currently 3/12/2022. I am only sorry I didnt retire my Wemo devices in favor of these years ago, as they were always a bit of a challenge to get along with. BTW, I am not rating Remote Control in this review, as I am not really sure what this feature is. I have these linked to Amazon Echo currently. I see on the box that they are Google Assistant compatible as well. And I thought they were Homekit compatible as well, but apparently not.

> 3 dayI have quite a few of them. Over the time it will fail and need replacement. For those who said not easy to connect you might need to check 1. update your routers firmware or2. just reset the router !

> 3 dayI purchased a bunch of these to control christmas lights all over the house. These smart plugs were some of the easiest things to configure in all my experience with smarthome products. They work excellent! I have them integrated with samsung smarthings and Alexa. I cannot stress enough how easy they are to use. I have had many other products that are a pain to setup and just do not work as advertised. Meross smart plugs are the best! I really like that the light on the side is un-obtrusive and the button to manually activate is also on the side and not obtrusive. you rarely use the manual button so there is not need for it to stick out. The app is excellent and allows full control over the smart plugs. you can customize the name of the plugs, pictures, etc. in the app. the firmware updates super easy. They connect to wi-fi the first time and stay connected. They just work! I have integrated 12 of them into smarthings with no problems. Alexa works flawlessly with them. I thought I would just use them for christmas lights but I find that I am also using them now for other devices I want to control with just a plug switch.

> 3 dayMy 11 yr old son got these as a gift. He was able to set it up by himself and get it to work just fine. It took a little work but he did get it done. So far it has worked just fine. So much easier to turn the lights on and off. It is paired with my newer Alexa echo dot.

> 3 dayAll smart plugs are not created equal. When evaluating smart plugs look for their amperage rating. Generally the higher the amp rating the more robust the unit. This one has a rating of 15 amps. Weve had it a week or so and so far so good. We had similar plugs several months ago (costing more money) and they didnt last but a few weeks. A few weeks ago I bought an EFUN 1 amp smart plug during a flash sale. I liked it so ordered another one. The second EFUN unit failed immediately after the first use. I suspect that it wasnt robust enough and the internal wiring wasnt heavy enough to carry a modest electrical load. My first EFUN remains chugging along. I replaced that second EFUN with this Meross. Last night I weighed them both and was surprised by the weight diffference. The EFUN weighed 48 grams while the Meross weighed 83 grams. The Meross feels more solidly built and was only a couple dollars more than the EFUN. The Meross was easy to set up, but has one more setup involved than the EFUN. I think the app for the Meross is of better design than the Smart Life app that the EFUN and other smart plugs use. FWIW- Back in March I ordered two Teckin brand (16amp) smart plugs. They stopped functioning a few weeks later because they stopped recognizing our wifi network and I could not get them to reinitialize and reinstall. They use the same Smart Life app as the EFUN. As I said, I think the Meross app is designed better. Consequently the Teckin units were sent back as we couldnt get them to function once the were no longer recognizing our wifi. So, I guess Im giving a qualified recommendation for the Meross smart plugs. Time will tell. If something changes I will come back and update this review.

> 3 dayI purchased 4 pack of these plugs and when I started using them one plug was not working. I emailed customer support on a Sunday evening and they got back to me in an hour which totally shocked me. I explained the problem and they suggested how to reset it which did not work. They asked me to send them a video of what I tried which I did and my Amazon order number. It was 2 days later they let me know they were sending out a replacement one. I was extremely impressed with their customer service. I purchased WeMo brand previously , and they did not work and their customer support was garbage they were sent back. Meross you have me as customer for life!! I just order 4 more plugs. Now for the product, price of these plugs are very reasonable and worked way better that I expected after trying WeMo I was very skeptical . They were easy to setup, it took less than a minute using their app and I was up and running. They were relatively easy on the Alexa side, had some issues but I think that was a learning curve. Now no problems at all. You can change the name of your plugs in the Meross app and Alexa picks up the new name very quickly with me making no changes in the Alexia app. I have been using them for 2 months and no problems. I like the Scenario feature in the Meross app which can also be transferred in the Alexa app/device too for even easier setup

> 3 dayEasy-peasy to install using an app you download. Once installed it integrates seamlessly with Alexa and adds a lot of convenience operating lights and appliances. I’ve bought a lot of smart plugs over the years and these appear to be as well made and reliable as the others. Would recommend.
