> 3 dayAfter ten hours of use, the padding on one side fell off. You can see the one drop of glue on the broken side connecting the foam padding they claim as noise cancella It is a plastic bond glue, Checked it.. It is not walnut wood, nor the connectors gold. I do not want my money back, I want to warn others not to get completely robbed.

> 3 dayThe sound is fantastic for the money, very comfortable, and nice looking. I hope the earpieces, being faux leather or pleather, will hold up over time. If they were leather, these would be perfect.

> 3 dayVery musical headphones. Bass is there for weight but not overly done. Top end is smooth with satisfying detail. Very comfortable to wear in a home environment. Not sure I would take them out in a mobile fashion. For me these headphones strike a perfect balance and bring about blissful listening. Listened with a Teac ha501 headphone amp and most of my previous listening was with v moda 80 and v moda 100 headphones as well as various Panasonic headphones.

> 3 dayThe build quality is very good and the included cables are some of the best quality Ive seen included with a pair of headphones. Sound is overall decent with a focus on the low end. Impact is good, though it might be a bit too much for some people. Overall, a really nice product.

> 3 dayEveryone that has reviewed these headphones as having too much bass is absolutely correct: they are monstrously out of balance. To the point that the lower midrange and midrange are practically inaccessible. Which means the high end is left to fend for itself, somehow. Its truly startling that any reputable company would produce such a product with such an obvious problem and have the temerity -- the Temerity I say! -- to claim superior, balanced sound. While being comfortable to wear and lovely to the eye and touch, they are impossible to use for listening. My own application was for monitoring field recording. Sadly they muffled the signal as expertly as they muffled any external noise. Do yourself a favor and listen elsewhere...

> 3 dayTHE BOTTOM LINE No sooner had I unzipped its clamshell case than the room began to fill with walnut; it lingered like a cologne. It also marked the beginning of one of the most elegant presentations that I have experienced. From its vintage-industrial aesthetic to arts & crafts assembly, the 99 looked, felt and sounded like something from antiquity. Mono and stereo music sounds phenomenal and multi-channel audio (downmixed of course) is surprisingly good, making games and movies more convincing. Meze 99 Classics is the best all-around headphone at its MSRP. ADVANTAGES [+] Tube amp sound (mellow, organic and peculiar) [+] Incredible dynamics [+] A well-imaged soundstage [+] Natural signature with taut bass and midrange [+] Listenable [+] Fully (user) serviceable DRAWBACKS [-] Comfort (weightiness can affect long-term wearability) [-] Microphonic [-] Inelastic (everything is bolted onto a metal frame)

Greater than one weekPros: - Sound quality : You can hear distinct sounds playing at the same time very well. - Nice wood design, looks very good. Cons: - Bass not that deep ( I dont know why some people in the comment said there is too many bass ... ). - Microphone simply inexistant, its physically there on the cable but barely works. - My inner ear feel pressured like if the headset was sucking up the air, its uncomfortable. - When turning my head I can ear my movements inside the headset. - Overpriced overall I decided to return the product.

Greater than one weekThe Meze 99 Classics made a pretty good impression on me until they didnt: Sound: Overall, these headphones have a pleasant and coherent sound. Nothing is missing, but the sound signature isn’t the one I wanted. The highs don’t have that airy quality I like. The bass is too loud and too loose. When I have even the slightest headache, I can’t listen to music without cranking the volume way down because the bass becomes unbearable. Portability: These are the first headphones I’ve had in a long time that are closed (little sound leakage), light-weight, and require no additional amplification. But these headphones get so damn warm whenever it’s not chilly outside. I dont sweat a lot, yet my head is always drenched in sweat on my walk to work when Im wearing these headphones. I’ve worn some pretty big and clunky headphones (Fostex T50RP MKIII, Audio Technica M50s, etc.) and some not so clunky ones (e.g. Momentum v1 and V-Moda Crossfade M100), but I cannot recall a single pair of headphones making me sweat like these. Comfort: When I put these headphones on the first time, I was thrilled. They seemed to stay in place while clamping minimally and did not require me to fiddle with them to get them to fit nicely around my head. But as I started wearing them for hours at a time, I began to notice that my head would hurt a lot, especially at the top of my head and where the headphones make contact with my glasses. To make matters worse, they always felt like they weren’t fitting snugly enough to keep air from escaping so I’d awkwardly shift them forward on my head to form a better seal, which looked ridiculous and made them hurt even more. Im sure these are great headphones for a lot of people, but they’re just not for me…

Greater than one weekThis is an initial review after a little less than a day of use. So far I am extremely satisfied with the Meze 99 Classics. I got them to replace my recently sold Mr Speakers Mad Dogs, which were excellent sounding headphones but were big, bulky, and I didnt find them terrible comfortable. I wanted a pair of good sounding, closed-back headphones that could be used either at home with my Schiit Bifrost/Lyr stack or on the go out of just my LG G4. So far these are filling out my desires excellently. The Mezes are exceedingly well made and very nice to look at, being made out of mostly metal and wood. A nice bonus is that despite being solidly constructed from metal and wood, these are fairly light headphones. Almost an entire day of wearing them at my desk at work has gone by and theyve yet to feel uncomfortable or put too much pressure on my head. The sound is definitely excellent, although possessing more of a fun sound signature. Those looking for hyper-detail accurate headphones may not be as interested in these. As Ive been listening to the Mezes as I work, I cannot give a detail breakdown of the sound but I can say that they certainly sound excellent. For someone looking for a fun sounding headphone that can be used at home or on the go, these are definitely a pair worth checking out!
