Greater than one weekThe MFJ-949E is my first antenna tuner to be used. The cabinet passed the ole shack test which is a good sign. I am looking forward to using this item and expect a learning curve and alot of help from YOU TUBE videoes.

Greater than one weekThis is the only tuner Ive ever used, so I dont have anything to compare it to. However, I can say that it works great and does exactly what you need it to. Im able to tune my 17m half-wave dipole to all sorts of other bands at an SWR of 1.3:1 or lower. Im impressed. The build quality is nice, too. The chassis is fully metal, the knobs have a nice click and heavy feel. Theres a light behind the meter which you can hook up to your power supply if you wish. I did, and it gives off a nice incandescent glow.

Greater than one weekthis item cost me a lot of money. my IC7300 would tune to 1:1 with my G5RV with built in tunner. This item will not tune below 1:5 or higher. Tested coax, and even purchased a $388 OCF Buckmaster from HRO and replaced G5RV. Same issue where IC7300 will tune the antenna to 1:1 every time on all FREQ in the band but this MFJ will not go below 1:5 and most time more like 2:2. The reseller does not allow returns. I emailed MFJ 5 times now and was told to contact seller. A blow off. Can not even do a A-Z with this reseller. Was of a lot of money for sure.

> 3 dayThis is a great manual tuner for someone looking for versatility and lots of function in a small package. This is designed to be a mobile tuner, but it can also be used for a go-box or even a home base station. The nice thing about this tuner is that it covers all HF bands as well as the 6m band. I started with this tuner and although I’ve since changed to an auto-tuner, I keep this as a backup.

> 3 dayWorks well and really helps get the swr down to a reasonable level, protecting the finals in your transmitter. Small and compact. Good for the Go kit. This price is more than double than the MSRP.

> 3 dayive had both of these the mfj -949&945 ,and both do just what they are intened to do and thats to keep youre match as low as possible, and they both are worth the money spent if youre concerned about keeping youre ,S.W.R.,as low as possible ,under a,1.5.,is possible with either meters, and if youre running a, antron 99-antenna ,dont by all means move the 2- tuning rings in the middle just take youre time and make sure that both rings are tight as possible ,this also applies to the I-MAX-2000,antenna made also by ,solar con which both are made by solarcon, the I- max is ,24,ft,long and the antron is ,18-foot long which will handle strong wind a lot better than the I-max,2000,i ve seen the very top section on the I- max snap off on the ,I- max in high winds ,where the 18- foot a- 99 was still all together, and when you put either antenna ,USE THE LOCK WASHERS ,that came with these antennas, why ,?????so they wont get loose in a, high wind,?????I prefer the a-99,its a great antenna and I tuned it with the mfj,949 for 10-meters ,im a, ham radio -operator,and ive talked all over with it on a, kenwood ts -430 station which was the complete station by kenwood..im ,kd8 hmh on the ham radio,Dave.

> 3 dayWas disappointed that no instruction manual came with it and requested I go on line and down load one, I tried it but found all down loads sites for manual was either a rip off or too much to deal with , I did find one short instruction pdf that I copied and past then printed it. But not complete manual.

Greater than one weekIt is tricky to learn how to use even with the manual....but it works fine.
