Greater than one weekThis is the second time I bought this knife. I bought the first at a brick and mortar, and I lost it yesterday. Am I writing this review now buying a replacement. I owned it for about three years. This knife is a jack-of-all trades knife. It can do anything outdoorsy, so long as you clean it and dont let water stick to it for long. Wipe it off after every use. I have one complaint. Although Mora handles fill the hand comfortably and firmly, I wish there was just a little more protection in front of the index finger position on this knife. Many other Mora knives have that, a, something like a beavertail in case some of you get that. A little bit of protection against your grip slipping forward into the blade. I havent cut myself on this knife but this knife is a half inch of grip material away from perfection. I get that the thinner tip on this model means you might want finer control, but if this is your only knife, the safety of that would be worth it. Chances are youre mostly going to make fire with this knife, and youll want that beavertail. Absolutely unbeatable value. Not even close. Nothing else comes close to the quality for the money. Definitely buy.

> 3 dayFor backpacking and camping, this knife is a great choice. While it is stainless, its a stainless that can rust, meaning it has enough carbon to be a useful steel for the field. Is very sharp, handles well, great sheath. Perfect knife to bury in your pack. For survival, this thing will certainly do. (Do not baton wood with this thing, batoning is overblown. Treat it like a knife and itll serve without fail.)

> 3 dayThe knife was razor sharp out of the box and is light and well balanced. The blades compound grind makes for a great all around camp knife.

> 3 dayLast year I bought a fancy looking bush crafting knife with a beautiful wooden handle and an impressive leather sheath. It looks like a million bucks. But with knives, how they LOOK and how they PERFORM are sometimes completely unrelated. This Morakniv Kansbol is not the most beautiful knife by any stretch, but it IS incredibly sharp, durable, and functional. Out of the package, the blade is razor sharp and ready to use. The stainless steel should withstand serious outdoor usage. The handle is comfortable and highly functional; I have medium-large hands, and it fits great for me. Ive shown it side by side with an Opinel No.8 pocket knife for size comparison. Beyond the knife itself, the sheath is excellent. Theres a perfect level of resistance to prevent the knife from coming out on its own, yet its still quick and easy to remove when its needed. Theres also a leather belt loop that looks like it should fit on any belt up to 2.25 wide. On one side of the sheath is a diamond sharpener, which will be useful if I ever need to sharpen quickly while in the backcountry. The other side of the sheath holds a fire starter. I really like the way the fire starter also snaps into place so it wont fall out while Im on the move. On the downside, I wasnt able to produce a very great amount of sparks from the fire steel they provided, and since its custom-made to snap into the sheath, I cant replace it either. (Personally I have other tools for fire starting, so Ill just consider this a backup option.) Considering the build quality of this knife, and the stellar reputation the Morakniv has built and maintained, I think this knife is a great value at $60. For me, its immediately going into my camping bin and replacing the more expensive, less functional knife I bought last year!

Greater than one weekThe knife is actually really razor sharp. I have a few other moras like Champion and the cheeper ones.. This knife and sheath are MUCH more impressive. It is amazing. If your considering purchasing it the only problem is it will be make you wonder why you spent a few hundred dollars on a bushcraft knife when this is lighter and sharper and does everything you could ask and looks really cool doing it. I train people and I feel in my opinion it would be great to have this knife and a small quality hatcher with a Ferro Rod in your car for emergencies.

> 3 dayThis is a sharp, well made knife. The scabbard is nice as well...keep the knife safe while transporting it.

> 3 dayIf you’re not needing a full tang knife like the Garberg than this is great. The blade profile works amazingly for finer work such as food preparation. High quality Swedish made knife.

04-06-2025When I chose this knife to review, it completed my Morakniv collection; I now have every major knife Morakniv offers. Comparing this knife to every other knife in Moraknivs line up, the Kansbol is closest to the Garberg in terms of performance and design. Kansbol vs. Garberg: 1. The Garberg is full tang, the Kansbol is not. 2. The blade thickness on the Garberg is around .5mm thicker than the Kansbol. 3. The stainless steel version of the Garberg is slightly better than the Kansbol (The Garberg maintains an edge slightly better). 4. The Garbergs tang extends into a pommel. All of the above differences are minimal, outside of the full tang. Theres not one situation Ive been in where Id be hesitant to grab by Kansbol instead of my Garberg. Would I ultimately choose the Kansbol over the Garberg if performance and features alone where my primary concerns? No, the Garberg is still a superior knife. Would I choose the Kansbol over the Garberg if performance in conjunction with price were my primary concerns? Yes. The fact is, this knife is about 90% of what the Garberg is at around half the premium. Bottom line: In most situations, the Kansbol is all the Morakniv youll ever need. 5 stars

> 3 daySheath could be improved For the average everyday user this knife is great. If youve had a mora before you know what youre getting for quality already. The Molle attachment setup is not bad if thats how youre looking to mount it. And the belt carry strap is also nice. I wish they had the retaining strap usable with belt carry no just the mole setup. So I modified mine a little. It was a great carry all week during a hunting trip. And I never worried about it getting loose or rattling once combining the two strap setups.
