This is a wonderful portrait lens. Fast, sharp as a tack. Great subject isolation. Theres something magical about a good prime. Read the reviews elsewhere/everywhere, this lens is excellent. It makes you wonder why you would want to shell out so much more for the 1.4.

Ill admit, the price of this lens compared to the 85mm 1.4 made it immensely more appealing. I tried out a friends 1.4 and it performed amazingly, as expected; however this 1.8 comes remarkably close and will not disappoint you. Ive only been using it for a day now and did a few test shots on my Nikon D750 as well as my D3200 (I know its an FX lens but it still performed amazingly on my DX too). The bokeh is very smooth and can be achieved almost effortlessly. If youre looking for a prime portrait lens you will not be disappointed. Heres a photo of my daughter I quickly snapped as a test shot. Ill update more when I do a session with this lens.

I own the 50mm 1.8 and loved it, so I decided to get the 85mm 1.8 to compliment. I am a portrait photographer and get great results with it. For $400 this is a no-brainier. Its sharp, great in low light, and the perfect range for portraits.

Ein absolutes Spitzenprodukt! Saubere knackige Schärfe mit hoher Lichtstärke. Mit voll geöffneter Blende lässt sich super mit dem Schärfepunkt arbeiten, Tiefenschärfe wird schon ab 2,8 erreicht. Ich hätte es mir nicht träumen lassen, dass Festbrennweiten den Zooms so deutlich überlegen sind. Da ich das Objektiv an der 7000 D betreibe, ist es umgerechnet ein herkömmliches 135er und eigentlich schon zu viel für Portraits, deshalb beabsichtige ich, mir noch eine 50er Brennweite zuzulegen.
