> 3 dayOur 6 month old boxer puppy had been suffering from canine papilloma virus for almost 3 months. She had huge warts all over her face, including some inside her mouth that made it difficult for her to eat. They bled constantly, making a mess and making her miserable. After reading about L-Lysine online as a possible remedy, I purchased these. Within 2 days the warts had started shrinking noticeably, and they were gone completely within a week.

Greater than one weekThe package arrived safely and I was able to intercept UPS before it was left in the heat. For those in warmer climates delivering vitamins, etc. leave a cooler for UPS to drop off temperature sensitive items like these. Its too early for results on the Lysine, was taking extra lysine to recover from surgery.

> 3 dayI much prefer the capsules but I forgot that I once ordered the wrong kind and accidentally re-ordered them. They are fine, but the capsules are a little easier to swallow and I think they work better (maybe easier for the body to absorb).

> 3 dayI have been reading a very useful book - ‘Restoring Your Digestive Health’ - by Jordan S Rubin and Joseph Brasco, both MDs. They have a section titled ‘Sub-Par Supplements’ in the book, and interestingly, this section lists amino acid supplements. Many Amino acid supplements are sold to athletes and bodybuilders to help them build muscle strength. The problem with these supplements, however, is that they are a far cry from the amino acids in food. In the protein from food sources, different kinds of amino acids are bound together in long molecule chains, but in supplements the amino acids are free form or unbound. Each type of amino acid is sold as an isolate. Research suggests that these isolate, free-form amino acids are not absorbed adequately. Cofactors present in food sources probably help the body metabolize amino acids, but those cofactors are not present in free form amino acids. As long as you are getting enough protein in your food, you do not need to take amino acid supplements. Consume lacto-fermented foods and take high quality digestive enzymes to improve your protein digestion if you feel that you are deficient in amino acids. In general, we do not recommend these supplements for most patients.
