Outdoor Z-Wave Plus On/Off Light and Appliance Plug, Two On/Off Smart Outlet, Zwave Hub Required, Works with SmartThings, Wink, Alexa (ZW97)

Testing of this device shows it to only have a poor rating regarding signal While it worked in an outside application it was marginal. Even putting the device inside the house did not improve things. I have had other brands of waterproof devices and they all had poor signal reception. All other devices in the house, not rated for outdoors, have had good to excellent signal characteristics.

I bought this to control outside lights on our Vivant Home System. We spent well over an hour trying to get it to connect but it would not. It does have an off and on switch so that is how we use it. It is well constructed and works fine using the switch. The only reason I can not give it 5 stars is it doesnt work with our system.

[UPDATED REVIEW] Although originally this worked great with Home Assistant and an Aeotec Z-Stick controller, after about six weeks problems developed. It randomly stops responding to Z-Wave commands, and the controller reports it as dead. You can still control whatevers plugged in by using the button on the unit, but having to go outside to switch things on and off kind of defeats the point. The Z-Wave functions die two or three times a week. When that occurs the only way to bring it back onto the Z-Wave network is to unplug it, wait a while, and then plug it in again. Then it works for a few days, until it randomly stops responding and I have to go outside to power cycle it again. (Nothing had changed in my Z-Wave network when these problems started, and all my other devices are working fine.) I emailed Eva Logik support, but still no response after two weeks. Will update if I hear back from them. [ORIGINAL REVIEW: was 5 stars] Im using Z-Wave dual outdoor outlet with Home Assistant and an Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 Z-Wave controller. And so far, it does exactly what it claims, and does it well. Both outlets can be controlled independently, and their status shows up accurately in my HA dashboards. Pairing was easy: the outlet automatically enters add mode the first time you plug it in, so just be sure to click add node in the HA Z-Wave panel before you plug it in. (Theres a big yellow sticker on the packaging alerting you to this.) The outlet shows up as three devices, all Unknown: type=c000, id=c007 by Inovelli. The second and third devices control the left and right outlets, respectively. The first device also seems to control just the left outlet, at least by default. (There are configurable device parameters for group associations, but I havent experimented with that. The instruction sheet also lists some other available parameters: LED indicator behavior, auto turn-on and turn off timers, and state after power outage--see photos.) Range seems great for my purposes. I have it outdoors, about 50ft and some windows away from the nearest (indoor) Z-Wave node, and its been completely reliable so far. (Unlike the Bolun Wi-Fi outdoor smart plug it replaced.) Ive deliberately kept my network to only Z-Wave Plus devices; if you have some older non-Plus devices mixed in, that might affect your range. Cant comment on weather resistance yet, but Ill update this review if I run into any problems. Easy to install and connect to Alexa. High quality

Super easy set up to SmartThings and Alexa app. It’s great to have two smart outlets as opposed to just 1 like other devices. Wonderful for outdoor holidays decorations! I’ve bought two and am thinking about buying more! I have 4 of these. They are great!

The 2 z-wave plug version does not have a flat plug unlike the one z-wave/one always on version. This was necessary for me since my outdoor plug enclosure will not close with a plug that sticks out.

Added to Hubitat without issue. It does what its supposed to reliably. Very pleased with this for the cost!

The box and Amazon page shows a 90 degree plug. (front side of the box has a sticker over the plug end, but back shows 90 degree.) Unfortunately, even with a 90 degree plug, it would still have too short of a cord. All of the outdoor z-wave plugs like this on Amazon have short cords. I just dont get it. It barely makes it to the wall next to the outlet and the plug would have to be so low to the ground that the rain will just bounce back up onto it. Need a cord at least double this length. I could use the mechanical timer that I was using to daisy-chain them, but I think that I will return and purchase a wired outlet to replace the one inside the covered receptacle. I did not try the z-wave connection (I didnt want to waste my time setting up something that I wasnt going to keep.) I gave 2 stars because may work for some applications, but again you barely have enough cord to get to the wall.

Compared to other smart devices, this one is a bit difficult to set up. Granted that it may be due to my cumbersome hub the Wink. I bought two of these and could never get the second one to connect. Returned it. The one I kept has worked without fail for about a month now, it was just difficult to connect.

Product was easy to pair with my smartthings hub and works as expected. I only gave 4 stars because I believe I was sent a used product. But it works and I do not have any issues with the outlet.
