> 3 dayThis tool rocks! I had a really tight cassette lockring. I put this lockring tool in the bench vise and cranked it down tight, set the wheel on top, then used a chain whip with a breaker bar to finally break it loose. I think a lesser lockring tool would have stripped/failed so Im glad I spent a few extra dollars on quality.

> 3 dayI bought this cassette lock ring tool since my older tool didnt have clearance for the axle on the newer thru-axle hubs. The FR-5.2GT has plenty of clearance and fully engaged the cassette lock ring. The center pin didnt seem necessary to line up the tool, but didnt cause any problems either.

CASSETTE OR FREEWHEEL?To determine the type of rear sprocket system you have, find the tool fitting on the sprocket set. Spin the sprockets backwards. If the fitting spins with the cogs, it is a cassette system. If the tool fitting does not spin with the cogs, it is a freewheel system. |
CAMPAGNOLO OR NO?If you have a multi-speed cassette, you need one of two tools. If the cassette, derailleur, or shifter are labeled with Campagnolo, the tool for you is the BBT-5/FR-11. Otherwise, you will require a tool in our FR-5.2 line. |
THE RIGHT TOOLS FOR THE JOBIn addition to the correct tool, you will also need a method of driving it (such as an adjustable wrench or 1" socket) as well as a chain whip to hold the cassette in place as you remove the lockring. Park Tool makes a full line of chain whips and wrenches for this very purpose. |
