Greater than one weekWho can torque to 40Nm with a 1 box wrench? And who can be bothered to use a chain whip when an impact driver will take a cassette lockring off in half a second without even needing to hold the cassette? This tool would be great if it directly supported 1/2 drive, but requiring a 1 socket to adapt this to anything makes it way less useful.

Greater than one weekI have to admit I was skeptical. I had a X01 cassette that didnt want to come off my Hope cassette carrier. I bought this and put it in the vice and spun the cassette and it came off easily. Maybe it was the through axle pin, maybe it was the right depth. Either way, it works for what I needed. Park Tools comes through again.

CASSETTE OR FREEWHEEL?To determine the type of rear sprocket system you have, find the tool fitting on the sprocket set. Spin the sprockets backwards. If the fitting spins with the cogs, it is a cassette system. If the tool fitting does not spin with the cogs, it is a freewheel system. |
CAMPAGNOLO OR NO?If you have a multi-speed cassette, you need one of two tools. If the cassette, derailleur, or shifter are labeled with Campagnolo, the tool for you is the BBT-5/FR-11. Otherwise, you will require a tool in our FR-5.2 line. |
THE RIGHT TOOLS FOR THE JOBIn addition to the correct tool, you will also need a method of driving it (such as an adjustable wrench or 1" socket) as well as a chain whip to hold the cassette in place as you remove the lockring. Park Tool makes a full line of chain whips and wrenches for this very purpose. |
