    So, I havent ordered from Amazon in quite some time, because Im tired of getting possibly counterfeit items, or items that are seconds. But I did, and it looks like I got burned again. The box itself looks great, no issues. However once opened up, it is clear this was a return. Come on Amazon, inspect your crap when it comes back. And yes, this was from Amazon.

    For protection of field instruments, it is hard to beat Pelican cases. I used the 1300 case to house a software defined radio (SDR) receiver, antenna connector, 12 V battery and amplifier for investigating radio frequency interference. Everything is protected while traveling to a remote site.

    Pelican cases seem expensive when you compare them to other manufacturers offerings; however, this is a classic case of getting what you paid for. These things are rugged (they have to be) and they will more than adequately protect their contents (estimated value is nearly 20x the cost of the case) for the long haul.

    I purchased this case based on past experience (gun cases, micro cases, phone cases) with Pelican cases for my First Aid kit Im building. I had a list of specs that had to be met for the case to work for that purpose; it had to be WATERPROOF, durable and brightly colored. Pelican does it again! I take this case in my Jeep on all backwoods adventures and it takes it in stride. I live in Oregon where when you are 4 wheelin it is usually raining. I have dropped, thrown and stood on this case as well as used it to block the wheels when changing a tire. Lastly I love that I could get it in a high vis color, the bright yellow makes it easy to identify amidst all the other gear that one carries then camping. All in all, Im already thinking about what other gear I can get a Pelican case for.

For over 30 years Pelican has built a reputation for manufacturing the toughest cases in the world. As a matter of fact, we invented the category. Over these years we"ve seen our cases used for some fairly crazy activities...and important ones too.

Pelican Cases have been thrown out of helicopters in Iraq, floated through frigid fjords in Norway and rolled over by SUVs in Tanzania. Stronger by Design

Pelican Cases are made with a proprietary combination of homo co-polymers, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter than a solid core wall. Stainless steel pins are used in hinges and handles.

Watertight

The secret is the tongue and groove fit with a polymer o-ring acting as a waterproof seal.

Cool Under Pressure

Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve releases built-up air pressure while keeping water molecules out, resulting in a watertight case that is even easier to open.

Easy Roller

Stainless steel ball bearing wheels last longer and ride smoother. The nylon hub adjacent to the stainless steel is made to resist heat. The result is less wear and tear on the polyurethane wheel.


Double-Throw Latches

Stainless steel hasp protectors are a Pelican exclusive. The Double-Throw latches are smarter and easier to open: it"s the classic "C" clamp design with a secondary movement that works like a pry bar to start the release and offers plenty of leverage to open with a light pull.

Custom engraved nameplates are available for a nominal fee.

Reinforced Padlock Protectors

Stainless steel reinforced padlock protectors provide added strength and extra security against cutting and theft.
