Pokémon Moon - Nintendo 3DS

Sunshine
> 3 dayI logged so many hours within the first month of owning this game! I opted for Moon mainly because my nickname is Sun and I needed some balance in my life. As an old-time player of Red/Yellow/Blue, Moons gameplay keeps the original style in-tact while introducing better alternatives; for example, no longer do you have to rely on Pokemon solely for HM use - you will always have all the HMs at your fingertips as you progress through the game! It keeps the online capability and clock-dependency of previous games, which can be a little weird if you choose Moon because your in-game time will be offset by 12 hours (day when its night, vice versa). A personal favorite capability of Moon is Poke Pelago which lets you make the best use of the time that youre being a responsible adult and doing work instead of playing Moon. You can train up Pokemon or let Pokemon collect items for you to pick up when you return which is determined by how much you decide to give them treats. Its not necessary to use Poke Pelago to complete the game, but it does allow for better time management. All in all, I havent really been fond of the newer games since Im more of a casual gamer, but Moon is a lovely bridge between casual and serious gaming. Ive definitely had friends who take the game to the next level and create a Pokemon team to be reckoned with, but I prefer to play on my own terms. Moon allows for both types of gamers and I have found myself going back to the game every couple of days with enthusiasm. Oh, and Nebby? Please get in the bag.

> 3 dayAs a longtime pokemon fan, this purchase was a no-brainer for me. For this installment I chose to not look at any spoilers of the game beforehand, so these are my thoughts while playing through: New Pokemon: Any game with new pokemon usually guarantees a thumbs up from me. Im less of a fan of remakes because I played through the originals so many times as a kid. The new pokemon this time around were all really great and I felt like a kid again seeing them all for the first time. I also really liked the addition of alolan forms for some of the original 151 pokemon, but there were only ~15 of those total (including some evolutions), which was kind of disappointing. Another great thing is that there are plenty of new legendaries / special pokemon to catch, which I felt was lacking in X/Y. Z Moves: Instead of mega-evolution, this game introduces z-moves. They are essentially a once-per-battle super move that you can use by attaching an item to your pokemon. Honestly, I prefer mega evolutions. It breathed new life into some pokemon by changing abilities and appearance. Z-moves are kind of boring... Trial battles instead of gyms: Trials replaced gyms in this installment. This was a super cool new addition in my opinion. A lot of people are unsure how they feel about the change, but I thought trials were great. They are very similar to gym battles in terms of progression through battles/ puzzles to be solved, but the advent of totem pokemon, enemies calling for help during battle, and increased stats made them more challenging and satisfying. Extra features: In terms of extra features, this game did a good job. Replacing hidden machines with pokemon riding was a great idea, it really makes you feel more involved and saves your teams move slots. Pokemon refresh and poke-pelagio are also fun little mini games that offer benefits during the main game. Festival plaza is basically more cumbersome way to connect to the internet/ interact with others, but it adds minigames and shops that can be fun as well. Lastly, breeding for competitive play is easier and quicker than ever, which is always appreciated by those getting into online play for the first time. Overall, I really enjoyed (and am still enjoying) the game! I would recommend it to any pokemon fan new or old, and even as an introduction to the series, as the game itself isnt too hard and there is a huge variety of pokemon to catch! The game has a few ways to increase or decrease difficulty, such as the exp share and constant stream of rare candies, which is great for easing new players in, or for veterans who want more of a challenge.

> 3 dayAs soon as I saw the trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon on YouTube,I knew I had to pre-order it.Lots of people have been waiting for so long to get their hands on this game and I was worried that as soon as I got mine,I wouldve been disappointed. When the demo came out,I instantly played it.I ended up craving more. But the wait was worth it! This game is so amazing even though I just barely started it.What I like about this is that you dont have to battle gym after gym in order to progress. There are around 4 islands in the game and each is controlled by an island Kahuna. The only way you can get to them is by completing some side quests or fighting in battles, which is completely different from previous Pokemon games in which you had to battle a bunch of gym leaders in order to get some progression.Another aspect that I like about the game is the time difference between Sun and Moon.Moon plays in a different time zone than Sun,which makes the game-play a bit more interesting. These are just some of the things that youll find different from previous game generations.Regardless,I enjoy this game and I know Ill spend a lot of time playing it.

> 3 dayI was very disappointed with Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, but Im still a Pokémon fan so I HAD to order this game. Im happy to say the bad taste went away completely! I feel really excited when I play this game, discovering new Pokémon and forms! The story is interesting and the characters are all likeable so far. The new mechanics are great and well implemented. I LOVE to ride Tauros, I thought I was gonna miss my bike but hell no! Also the trials are entertaining, I dont miss gym leaders at all. One in particular made me laugh a lot. Also you get to see Pokédex descriptions everytime you get a new Pokémon, either from capturing, evolving or trading, which is great. Some of the descriptions are pretty cool or even creepy! I only wish we had Pokémon Bank already, my dear friends from previous games are waiting for me there. If youre a Pokémon fan, youll LOVE this game!

> 3 daygame is just as fun as other pokemon games and it has exciting new features that were specifically made for pokemon moon and its alternate game pokemon sun. i picked pokemon moon because its legendary pokemon is a giant bat pokemon where pokemon sun has a lion type. i just got my game not too long ago so im not really far in the game yet since i dont have tons of time to play it. i will say though im far enough in that i love what i see and cant wait to see what else it has in store for me. i am 28 years old and it is a great game for kids or adults without getting bored at all

> 3 dayAbsolutely my favorite main-series Pokemon game to date, especially since X&Y (which I was not a fan of overall). The characters are so much more likable and the shift to a more interesting, story-focused experience is really appreciated. It offers a lot of fresh new things to the formula while still keeping that undeniable Pokemon feel. Even though theyve clearly made certain aspects easier for the new audience brought in by Pokemon GO, as a veteran I feel it doesnt interfere with the experience and it still feels engaging and fresh enough to enjoy whole-heartedly. My only warning is, if playing on the original 3DS, the framerate can dip significantly during things like double-battles or Totem battles. It doesnt dampen the overall experience for me personally, but be aware that its optimized far better for the New 3DS systems and you may notice some bad framerates if not playing on the newer system. Technical gripes aside, I hope to see more games following Sun&Moons lead in the series future. Alola!

Greater than one weekIve played pokemon games for almost 10 years now and I can safely say, this may be one of the weakest in the series. They focused way too much on story and wouldnt let go of your hand, basically played the game for you and didnt open many possibilities for exploration compared to previous titles. Story is kind of mediocre, I didnt pay too much attention later on because I just wasnt interested. Lots of filler in there to make the story last longer too. Its a great game for kids who are new to the series I suppose or new to the pokemon games in general but for someone whos played a lot of pokemon, its not like the games previously but it doesnt change my view. Nontheless, I dont hate it, I dont like it. Its average. You cant go wrong with it, youll enjoy playing it anyway.

> 3 dayGreat game. I spent over a hundred hours as of the release of the game in November. It took a lot of mechanics including moves attack power and leveling up ways and made them a little different. There are multiple ways to level your Pokemon, encounters are different as well, and it feels a little fresher. I had a lot of fun. A downside is how childish it can be. Dont get me wrong, I know the target audience is children but I personally grew up with the game and one day want to see something new. I cant wait to see what Nintendo comes up with next.

> 3 dayI havent played a pokemon game since Pokemon Crystal. Thats a LOOONG time ago. I was hesitant on grabbing the next release of Pokemon, but I was curious to see how much it has changed and whatnot. Thankfully, not all full 700+ pokemon is required to capture to complete the Alola Pokedex and Im thankful for that feature. Im also glad that I dont need to be overwhelmed by other generations of Pokemon (at least not yet) when versing others. All in all, it was a wonderful experience that I do not regret spending my time and money on. Cant wait to hear about the Nintendo Switch announcement for pokemon!

> 3 dayIve been playing this game for a little over a week now and I love it. Obviously I havent finished it, I play casually when I have some time, but so far it is great. Im leaving a review for some notes about the game, for people wondering if theyd want this newest one. For starters, youre not earning badges in this one, youre completing Trials on 4 different islands, its different from the others and I really like it. There is virtually no 3D in this game. Apparently in just one small portion of it, a mini-game of sorts, it is used, but in regular game play and in battles there is no 3D. I like that, because honestly I rarely use the 3D, but I can see how this would be a deal breaker. I feel like the different battles, parts of trials, and fighting the Kahuna are broken up so in between you train and level your team, and you dont have to grind like crazy before you get to the next gym. It feels more like a story rather than you just running from town to town to battle gyms. Theyve changed a few other things and I really like it, they made it different enough yo justify the purchase, but not so much that it doesnt feel like a Pokemon game.
