As a longtime pokemon fan, this purchase was a no-brainer for me. For this installment I chose to not look at any spoilers of the game beforehand, so these are my thoughts while playing through: New Pokemon: Any game with new pokemon usually guarantees a thumbs up from me. Im less of a fan of remakes because I played through the originals so many times as a kid. The new pokemon this time around were all really great and I felt like a kid again seeing them all for the first time. I also really liked the addition of alolan forms for some of the original 151 pokemon, but there were only ~15 of those total (including some evolutions), which was kind of disappointing. Another great thing is that there are plenty of new legendaries / special pokemon to catch, which I felt was lacking in X/Y. Z Moves: Instead of mega-evolution, this game introduces z-moves. They are essentially a once-per-battle super move that you can use by attaching an item to your pokemon. Honestly, I prefer mega evolutions. It breathed new life into some pokemon by changing abilities and appearance. Z-moves are kind of boring... Trial battles instead of gyms: Trials replaced gyms in this installment. This was a super cool new addition in my opinion. A lot of people are unsure how they feel about the change, but I thought trials were great. They are very similar to gym battles in terms of progression through battles/ puzzles to be solved, but the advent of totem pokemon, enemies calling for help during battle, and increased stats made them more challenging and satisfying. Extra features: In terms of extra features, this game did a good job. Replacing hidden machines with pokemon riding was a great idea, it really makes you feel more involved and saves your teams move slots. Pokemon refresh and poke-pelagio are also fun little mini games that offer benefits during the main game. Festival plaza is basically more cumbersome way to connect to the internet/ interact with others, but it adds minigames and shops that can be fun as well. Lastly, breeding for competitive play is easier and quicker than ever, which is always appreciated by those getting into online play for the first time. Overall, I really enjoyed (and am still enjoying) the game! I would recommend it to any pokemon fan new or old, and even as an introduction to the series, as the game itself isnt too hard and there is a huge variety of pokemon to catch! The game has a few ways to increase or decrease difficulty, such as the exp share and constant stream of rare candies, which is great for easing new players in, or for veterans who want more of a challenge.

This is the first new Pokemon game Ive played since the original Sapphire back in ~2004, and I enjoyed this game quite a bit. The story and progression is really interesting in this game and there are lots of new and interesting pokemon to catch. The visuals are also very nice for a 3DS game, while still fitting in with what a Pokemon game is supposed to look like. My one complaint with this game, however, is that its extremely easy - to the extent that I would argue this is one of the simplest videogames I have ever played. For most of the game, I was able to 1-hit or 2-hit almost every pokemon, and wipe out every trainer I came across without any challenge. This is mostly because trainers always carry pokemon of a far lower level than what yours likely are, and up until the last act of the game they will only ever have 2 or 3 pokemon, tops. I think there was 1 trainer before the final act of the game with 4. However, to add more challenge into the game, I came up with a few gameplay restrictions that I feel make the game much more fair: - Turn off EXP share when you get it. EXP share is basically easy mode, and the game is much better without it. - Only hold 3 pokemon at a time, and not 6. As I mentioned, trainers never have more than 3 until towards the end of the game, so for most of the game this will simply make fights more balanced. There is no challenge in fighting a trainer with 2 pokemon while you have 6. - Dont use Z-moves. This is a bit sad to give up, since theyre really cool, but some of them are so powerful that it makes the game downright unbalanced to fight opponents who do not have these moves. I find the game better without them, at best restricting them to boss trainers. Playing the game with these three restrictions basically makes a hard mode, that puts you more in line with the opponents you will face throughout the game. I understand the need to open this series up to a new and potentially younger audience, but this is literally the easiest videogame I ever recall playing. These restrictions make the game better for older gamers who can handle a little challenge, or for anyone who preferred the difficulty of the early- to mid-2000s entries.

It is great to find all of the 3DS Pokémon games on Amazon below the original retail price, and not have to pay scalper prices for something that has over eight million copies floating around. World Edition games are USA region games that have been packaged by Nintendo for smaller international markets. Dont be scared to buy it if you live in the United States, Canada or Mexico (North America). Though I would recommend that you buy Ultra Moon since it is the same game and story but improved (like Platinum is to Diamond).

Absolutely my favorite main-series Pokemon game to date, especially since X&Y (which I was not a fan of overall). The characters are so much more likable and the shift to a more interesting, story-focused experience is really appreciated. It offers a lot of fresh new things to the formula while still keeping that undeniable Pokemon feel. Even though theyve clearly made certain aspects easier for the new audience brought in by Pokemon GO, as a veteran I feel it doesnt interfere with the experience and it still feels engaging and fresh enough to enjoy whole-heartedly. My only warning is, if playing on the original 3DS, the framerate can dip significantly during things like double-battles or Totem battles. It doesnt dampen the overall experience for me personally, but be aware that its optimized far better for the New 3DS systems and you may notice some bad framerates if not playing on the newer system. Technical gripes aside, I hope to see more games following Sun&Moons lead in the series future. Alola!

Great new entry in the Pokemon series. As a long-time fan, it is nice that they are still improving the games with each iteration-- it would be really easy for them to put out a sub-par product and still get sales. I have already put ~120 hours into this game (about 30 or so in the story with oodles of time in the post-game), but even with that time investment I will buy it again for the Nintendo Switch and play through again :P. Some of the great quality of life improvements over the previous games: No more HMs Previously, you had to make room on your Pokemon for story-based moves (and have specific types of Pokemon in your party), but this is no longer the case! Great story The story in this game is one of the best in the series, possibly the best (over B/W), though this will probably differ somewhat based on personal taste UI Improvements If you ever had to look up type matchups to see if a move was Super Effective/ Not Very Effective, you are in luck: after you have battled a Pokemon, your move effectiveness is always displayed on your moves in the lower screen. IV Judging all Pokemon in your PC boxes at any PC This is huge for anyone that breeds Pokemon: after unlocking it, you can see the IVs for any Pokemon in your PC (which streamlines the IV checking process significantly). EV display in Summary screen This is a slight step back (as you could normally see this in the bottom screen at any time), but when you press the Y button on a Pokemon Summary it shows you the current EV investment for the Pokemon (with sparkles if a stat is maxed). It is nice having the same UI for the IVs and EVs in the same spot. Basically, if you have ever liked Pokemon (or just want to try a fun game), try this out. It is totally worth it. If you are thinking of trying another Pokemon game after Pokemon GO, you will not be disappointed-- the actual gameplay here is so much better. Just buy this and a fitbit :P.

The game is overall fun. Graphics looks quite nice on my New 3ds XL. Its pretty easy to beat the game and level up Pokémon. Im a 90s kids so I remember having to train your Pokémon for long hours before hitting the gym leaders. With this game you receive exp share for your whole party. Meaning that leveling up Pokemon has been made easy and you can just keep using one Pokémon to do all your battles while the other Pokémon leech the exp. The game can be beaten in 1 or 2 days. Although it will take you a while to evolve and catch all the Pokemon in the game. Overall, I dont think itll take more than 1 week to beat the game and finish the pokedex.

Since I received my game I have developed the habit of not being able to stop when I play. At first I did not think that Pokémon Sun and Moon were going to be as good as Pokemon X and Y due to the changes. However, I was completely wrong because Im enjoying completing the trials and the story, some of the changes were a good thing because defeating eight gym leaders and facing the elite four was starting to get repetitive even though the plots of each Pokemon game was different. More importantly, hidden machines were taking up slots, so Im glad that they got rid of this option and have use pokemons to fil those hidden machine requirements instead.

Who remembers the blue, red version ?? Who remembers teleporting next to some cave and walking up 3 steps , left 4 steps , down 5 steps to catch mew ??? Sadly I am no longer playing Pokémon but I bought this for my nephew. Im sure this new generation or Pokémon are cool but nobody beats the old Pokémon with ash , brock & misty. Sorry just a 90s baby here. Anyway, nephew loved this game. So 5 stars from me. Im glad my nephew is getting close to the same experience I had growing up lol

Feels short compared to ORAS or X/Y. They keep adding customization but then no matter what you do your character looks like a little moron. Most of the Alolan Pokemon variants are embarrassing. Its like they went with all the worst ideas the designers had. What if Dugtrio had long blonde hair? What if we made Meowth a gay stereotype? What if Persians head was like 3 times normal size? These are the questions that will be answered in Pokemon Sun/Moon. The difficulty spikes near the end of the game, meaning you have to grind for hours to be strong enough to beat bosses. Pokemon Bank doesnt yet support Sun/Moon so you wont be able to import any of your strong Pokemon to help with this until January 2017. All that aside, its still a Pokemon game. Its fun to run around trying to catch the ones you want. Its fun to battle other trainers, though it gets tedious as in all the games. The story is pretty meaningless as always. I will say theres been significant improvement to the music and graphics since X/Y/OR/AS. Some of the songs are even good, rather than just irritating. Its a bit disappointing that you have to ride whichever pokemon are handed to you as ride pokemon and cant use your own, and there are a few other things youll find lacking after a bit, but its still a decent Pokemon game.

This defiantly reminds me of Pokémon XD for the GameCube. Its like previous Pokémon games but has an actual story line. The characters all have beckgrounds and have very different personalities. The story can get annoying at times because off all the cutscenes and talking though. But I think its really easy. Im a fan of 11 years now its way to easy. When you fight a Pokémon, the game tells you if a move is super effective or not. You should know that by now. Also every time you turn the corner someones healing your Pokémon. But they give you an exp. share early, and if you never turn it off, you will not to do any grinding to level up. props to game freak for trying something new.

Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon will launch in the US November 18th, 2016 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Embark on a new adventure as a Pokemon Trainer and catch, battle, and trade all-new Pokemon on the tropical islands of a new Region and become a Pokemon Champion!
