My family has been using this for decades and it works better than anything else on the market. First, it takes the pain away almost immediately, especially if you glob it on. Second, it heals cuts, scrapes, minor burns, and skin irritations faster than other products. It also kept wounds from scarring that clearly should have scarred. Yes, it has a strong scent, but that’s hardly an issue when you feel so much better! Pro-tip #1: use a cotton swab or a similar “tool” to put the salve on the wound or bandage: if you use a finger, then eat with that hand even after washing your hands, you will taste it. Pro-tip #2: glob the salve on the wound and kinda squish it in there - it works better if you aren’t stingy with it.

Have been using this stuff my whole life and was thrilled to find on Amazon. It helps so much with painful little cuts, scrapes, stings, burns, and other small injuries. I never go without it. Yes it smells medicinal but its so worth it. My kids wont take a band aid without it

I have painful, cracked fingertips and my sister-in-law told me about this product. I read the reviews on Amazon (even about the smell) and felt it was definitely worth a try. When it arrived I could smell it as soon as I opened the Amazon box (the tins were in another box inside). I immediately tried it, thinking the smell would be worth it if the product worked. I was only able to leave it on for about 30 min, the medicinal smell was just too overwhelming (I used it only on the tips on my two thumbs). Ive tried a few more times, using the tiniest bit I could get away with but I still could leave it on for only a little while. Having said all that - I can tell the product works, but it would work faster for me if I could stand the smell longer. I think this product works well, but just be aware of the smell. Its the only reason I didnt give it 5 stars. Oh, and to store the tins I have to put them in ziploc bags then put them back in the box - otherwise I can smell them as soon as I open the drawer.

Only reason I rated 5 stars is because they didnt have more! We use this primarily for cross country and track...to help with healing blisters, etc. It was referred to us from a college coach that uses it for his athletes. It absolutely works, very strong smell, but worth it. My son used it throughout his HS running career, and will be using it into his collegiate career too! It also works well with insect bites, stings, burns, etc. (a little goes a long way)

I cannot say how impressed and relieved I was with this product. For the Last couple of years I have had an itch in the groin region inside of my legs. You could not see any red rash on it unless you itched it. This itch usually only happen at bed time and I never knew when this was going to happen, until I was almost asleep, Then it would start .The itch was awful, once started I just could not stop, it was awfull. I would scratch until it almost bleed. I’ve went to the doctor , and tried 3 different prescriptions it only helped just a little, even if I put it on twice a day as directed. I have tried everything I can think of, even if it burned like hell, I’ve tried Gold Bond, powers and spay for Jock itch, stuff for poison Ivey, antibiotic save, All kinds of powers, so many I have lost trackof them. I’ve tried washing twice a day, tried switch to boxers, it started to get worse. It started itching during the day if I sweated. Then I tried Porters Liniment salve, Amazing is the only word that comes close to describing the results of it and the great relief I got. I put it on just once, no itch, at all after only one application, ya the smell is a little strong but its well worth the relief I have gotten. Also a while back I had a case of diarrhea and boy was I sore back there , so I decided to try Porters Liniment salve and again I was amazed with the almost instant relieve I got . I hope this testament helps anybody that has a similar problem; I have ordered two more cans and have told others personally. Denny

I will admit that the scent is like a 1970s nursing home, but the results are something I have never seen in any other balm or salve. This stuff will help everything from dry skin to an open wound. You can pack this into an infected wound (after cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide) and then the next day it will be reduced in redness and swelling and starting to heal already!

Reminds me of the old days at my grandmas farm when we had a ache or pain she would put some salve on and oh how it would feel so good with much relief.

Our family has been using this salve for over 60 years. It is great for finger cracks in the winter, and any cut that is sore. It used to be sold in drug stores, so I was happy to get it from Amazon! It has analgesic qualities so it heals and takes pain away as well. The original purpose was for the cows teats as a treatment for their udders. Cant find anything else that works as good as this salve! I happen to be a little weird, because I love the smell! It doesnt bother me at all. You really dont need a lot of it for healing a cut or cracked fingers.

Porter"s Liniment Salve - Original Formula

History

The George H Rundle Company was founded in 1871 in Piqua, Ohio where they produced the original Liquid Porter’s Pain King Liniment. During the prohibition, The Rundle Company was forced to discontinue their original formula due to the high alcohol content in the liquid liniment. Market demand brought about the creation of Porter’s Pain King Salve in 1916. The salve formula was based off the original liquid version; but the solid form required no alcohol which allowed sales to continue during the prohibition. Rumor has it that the Rundle Company was so confident in the product that they would only accept payment from satisfied customers! The George H Rundle Company went out of business in 1969. At that time W.E Roecker moved the operation to Covington, Ohio where the Roecker family continued to produce the original formula for 52 years. In 2021 the operation was moved to Mechanicsburg, Ohio where the next generation will continue the 105-year tradition.
