This radio works well, provided you can take it to a professional to have it properly tuned, aligned and cleaned. Make sure you purchase the DNC520 mic as well because the stock DNC520 that comes with the radio will keep trying to change channels when you push to talk due to poor circuit design.

Overall a good radio. I actually like it better than my galaxy 99v that i had good transmitt and receive...but the ASC is useless so i dont use it if someone is putting a full signal on you it will work fine anything less than a 9.5 and you wont hear a thing So thats something that president needs to address and fix but if you dont mind using the squelch i would recommend this radio to anyone

Spurious noise was generated on the version 1 radios.

I bought this radio as an incentive to get back on the air after a 20 year hiatus. I had a HR2600 packed away all that time but it does not work any more so decided to replace it with this one. I am not into all of this programming stuff but I am glad that at least it has conventional volume, squelch RF output power, mic gain and RF gain. I am sure there are many that would buy this radio due to the easy conversion to CB but I would not recommend that as it is illegal to operate on CB and also voids the warantee. RF output is as stated in the specs when connected to a dummy load and also to my 35 year old Collinear Ground Plane antenna. There is a rotary control to use as a vfo and also up down buttons on the mic to change frequency. The noise blanker is effective. The internal speaker is effective in an relatively quiet area and there is provision for a plug in external speaker if desired. I got good reports on the transmit audio and the receive sensitivity is very good as well. For the most part the comprehensive instruction manual is rather straight forward but I am still trying to figure out how to set up the PL tone and offset for FM repeater operation. I used this radio for field day 2020 operating as a 1D station and for the most part if I could hear em I could work em with this radio. Of course band conditions will dictate what kind of results you will get. I would not suggest buying this radio for use on Citizen Band ( CB ) . If you want to be on CB buy a type accepted CB radio ( for a lot less money ) and be legal about it.

Another solid radio offering from President. Stays on frequency and sounds great on sideband.

I attached power to the radio and the fuse blew in my power supply as well as the inline fuse in the red power cord. Using a VOM I determined that pins 1 and 3 of the power connector on the back panel are shorted inside the radio. It didnt even work for a second. DOA

Great sensitivity. Really good power output. Well designed. Easily converted to 11 meters of course for monitoring use only. Lots of features for ham use.
