This is a nice keyboard, and I am overjoyed to have found something with Gateron-black style switches for this low a price. There is an issue with the switches, however. Only the black ones and the blue ones are correct, or at least according to convention anyway. My Punkston board came with a switch sample that includes all the ones you can get for this board. Heres the problem: Red is the heaviest linear, followed by Black, and then yellow. And brown is also linear, though I cant quite place where it is. Usually, Brown would be tactile, Red would be pretty light, Yellow would be a bit heavier than red, and Black would be pretty heavy for a linear. So only black (heavy linear) and Blue (clicky) are what youd expect. I am happy with my purchase because I wanted Gateron Black-like switches, which is what I got, but I suspect someone expecting browns or reds would be slightly disappointed in heavier-than-black reds and browns that werent tactile.

I really like small form factor keyboards, and have several around here for my various Linux computers, and this one is my new favorite! Some of my other keyboards are just weird and act finicky at times, but this one has been a rock solid performer with zero glitches. The switches arent too noisy, and provide the feedback I need for quick typing. I also really like the background color choices for the keys, and how easy it is to change the colors and animation patterns.

Needed an extra keyboard to use from time to time and this looked good for $20 (on sale) $6 for shipping. Roughly $26 for this little guy. First off, good support. I had a question whether the keyboard would work fine if I decided to try it on a console. Which was giving me really conflicting answers in the Amazon question and answers section. They got back to me in a few hours. It does work for those wondering. So far this keyboard is great. Not a huge fan of very clicky keys, but thats my fault. If thats your thing it does it well. I thought it was a huge plus that they include tools and a switch tester. I didnt get that with a $120 keyboard, not like it matters but its a nice touch really for this price. The keycaps are fine but I had some pudding keycaps lying around and it really makes this keyboard pop. If youre in the market for a cheap keyboard, this is a great option to consider.

Alright, here me out anyone that reads this: this thing is insane value at $25-30 dollars with the coupon while this review was written (was ~$25). The optical black switches are nice and have a nice OOTB smoothness. BUT, these switches RATTLE around the plate like crazy!!! That is not even factoring in the stem wobble too. Literally pick up the keyboard and gently shake it and it will sound like like a rattle shaker. You can also gently move the switch top housing and see it wiggle around the metal plate. These H&J switches seem to be based off of Kailh box housings and sport a larger housing overall. Never heard of that brand. I could not stand the switch top housing wobbling and swapped with Gateron browns I had lying around. No more switch housing rattle and also softly tactile. I also could not use my standard cherry switch opener or my kailh switch opener with those H&J switches. Meaning, you would need an Outemu style switch opener. I ended up using a flathead screwdriver to open one and peer inside. Regular looking switch otherwise. Beyond that, the plastic bottom casing does include case foam, though there is a gap for a battery and a slit in the bottom for Bluetooth/wireless for another PCB. You may want to add additional foam to decrease the hollowness when typing. Additionally, the stabilizers are actually factory lubed, and seem to be injected in between the housing with a viscosity close to Krytox 205g0/XHT-BDZ. Not bad. Still needs to be clipped to avoid any unwanted stab rattle, however. Luckily, these are plate mounted so they can be easily tested without disassembling the entire board. There is also a complete app made specifically for Punkston that allows for a variety of lighting modes( including the ones from the keyboard itself, per key reprogrammability, and macro function. Good job Punkston! Getting serious - if you intend to buy this, you need to know that these are optical switches only - standard mechanical switches WILL NOT FIT in this socket; this also means that your choices in hotswapability arent as wide. Though, Outemu and Gateron make a variety of optical switches online. There isnt really a better value for 60% keyboards at this low price point in stock on Amazon. Needs a lot of work, but you can definitely reach a good level of THOCCCC if you put the effort in. 3/5 for fairness and a good challenge for beginner keyboard enthusiasts.

Ive been using this Keyboard since July 2nd 2021, so about six months now. Although its advertised as a gaming keyboard, I will admit i also used it to do school work since it was already plugged in. It was so satisfying using this keyboard thus far and i just thought I would leave my impression of it. First of all, the sounds of it are just amazing, keeps me wanting to play video games and leaves me wanting to type more when I am on it. The keyboard itself is very customizable and you can change the ways the lights function as well as the actual key switches themselves if you want a different sound or feel. I did lose my part to make key changes but thats no big deal. Overall its a great keyboard, has the perfect sizing, and it is very ergonomic. I am happy I have been using it this long with no issues and dont see the need to get a new one anytime soon.

I wanted to like this keyboard, I really did. And I do. But its not fantastic. I bought this keyboard because I wanted to have a 60% layout for gaming. For that, it works well. The switches are nice and clicky, I would have preferred tactile browns but the browns they offer are linear :(. They say they are optical switches and frankly I cant tell the difference between mechanical and optical mechanical. They feel good. The Blue switches feel just like a blue switch should. Their software is decent if you can get it to work. A fully addressable RGB keyboard for 30 ish dollars cannot be beat. I definitely recommend this keyboard as your primary keyboard for gaming, however like the description says, I would not do office work on this keyboard for it does not have enough keys to be comfortable to type on. I still prefer the TKL layout for typing and the full size for my day job because I work with numbers. The case is plastic but for this pricepoint I dont expect aluminum. Some screws you can see behind the keycaps but I think throwing a fresh set of black pudding shine through keycaps on this would make it look like a higher end keyboard for an under $50 investment. Overall for gaming this keyboard rivals the Razer Huntsman mini and other 60% layout boards for a very affordable price for a beginner gamer, or someone who wants to test out the 60% layout.

If youre a keeb ~purist~, why are you even here? This is a great keyboard for folks who want to enjoy the feel of a mechanical keyboard (with brown switches, thats what I got), without shelling out for a more expensive showpiece of a keeb thats mostly just for... observation. I will say that the 60% is a little bit small for what I need it for, but Im still going to keep it. The keycaps that it comes with are a little boring so I got new ones and replaced them when I got the keyboard. CLICKS: brown switches are a nice medium between red and blue. I like them because theyre quiet enough for me as a writer, but satisfying enough that I feel like Im actually being productive. The arrow keys need to be activated in order to be used, and if you want to use some other keys you have to map them correctly using your system settings or programming software (for example, you can change the windows key to be the command key if youre using this keyboard with a mac). TYPING: is satisfying. NEW KEYCAPS: The keycaps are easy to remove and put new ones on. The keycap set that I got, everything fit, but ymmv — if your keycaps dont fit, double check? DURABILITY: Its doing fine. Im not sure why folks are saying that theirs died so quickly — are you banging on it with a hammer or do you have tiny hammers on each of your fingers that youre hitting the keyboard with? As long as you dont act like the keyboard has offended you somehow, itll last fine. LIGHTS: Listen, if you didnt want the pretty LED lights, why did you get the pretty LED-backlit keyboard? Knocking off a star because the keyboard that YOU purchased has all the features you KNEW were available because its IN THE DESCRIPTION is just asinine. Thats human error, not the manufacturers fault. Literally everything you need to know is either in the description or in reviews. Also, youre not cooler than anyone else if you dont want a keyboard with rainbow lights or think theyre corny. I dont get this logic at all — so gamer keyboards have pretty backlights. Okay, and? Sorry that youre boring and dont want any excitement in your life. Go and get a boring keyboard off of Drop or something and pay out the butt for something boring. This is not shade at Drop, whom I love. This is shade at all the buyers that are like iM sO TiReD oF tHe rAiNbOw LeD LiGhTs oN kEyBoArDs iTs sO oVeRrAtEd — ok, so dont buy one and then complain about the rainbow lights. Yeesh. Anyway, now that thats been said, the lights are cool. I like the rainbow lights. There are several different modes that can be activated and theyre pretty fun to watch. I tend to leave the more active ones (oscillation, rainbow surge, all the ones that make the keyboard STAY on with the lit LEDs) on only if Im streaming and want it for the aesthetic. Sometimes I keep the one where each key fades softly in and out at different intervals and in different colors on because its just prettier that way. But otherwise, if Im working, I set the keyboard to one of the light modes that lights up keys briefly as theyre pressed. CONNECTION: Its wired — USB C on the keyboard and USB A on the other end. You may need an adapter to connect it to you computer, especially if you have a newer laptop like a macbook that only takes USB-C. again. In the picture you can see a poorly coiled cable — I did that, so dont think that it comes with a coiled cable. IN CONCLUSION: - if youre an eLiTiSt about keyboards, maybe... dont buy this keyboard and then get crabby when it doesnt live up to your elitist expectations? - lights are pretty, not necessarily useful, but pretty! - keycaps are easy to remove and replace - USB-C out, USB-A in, buy an adapter if you need to and dont throw a fit - great beginner keeb

Its a keyboard that will get you by. Typing experience is pretty mediocre, switches rattle in the plate and sound scratchy, keycaps sound loose and shake a lot. Typing sound profile is loud, clackety even though these arent clicky switches, and the case makes it sound very hollow (it would help if you took it apart and put some foam in there to dampen the noise). Stabilizers on the shift, back, space keys are terrible. Just to clarify these arent Gateron optical switches. I got the brown switches and theyre just linears, which are usually tactiles, I would assume all the switches are the same and they just change the color of the stems. Some good things: the cable was better than I expected, as well as the switch puller and keycap remover that came with it. Props to them. The software, surprisingly, isnt just GK61 bloatware, it actually works pretty nice and looks clean. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone, in fact if someone came to me with this saying they just bought it I would make them return it and tell them to save more to build their own. In all honesty, the only reason I bought this keyboard was because Im getting it fully refunded just to leave a review, after I get the refund from the company, Im going to return this piece of garbage to Amazon and make a cool $35 on it and buy a cheap set of keycaps. Just save a little more and get an MX-style GK61, or another 40% or 60%. I cannot stress enough how cheaply this is made. Case sounds completely hollow when typing, switches dont sit tight in the plate and rattle around when you type, Keycaps arent straight still have machining marks around the bottoms/the bottom edges are warped on the longer keys. The stems are extremely loose inside the switch housing, theyre optical switches (yes I knew before I received it) so you have no room to upgrade or swap (because nobody makes them). This is unsalvageable as something to upgrade, and unless this is your endgame keeb (hint: it isnt) youll have to get a completely different keyboard to upgrade your experience anyway.
