The threaded post is shorter than described or shown in the picture it is only 4 turns before bottoming out.

I tried to buy one with a longer bolt. The picture led me to believe it was a 1/2 in length. It was only a quarter inch in length.

Ram Mounts are good. Ive been using the 1-inch balls and corresponding parts for 3 years daily as a dashboard camera system as well as part of some other photography/video based rigs.
