Ram Mounts are good. Ive been using the 1-inch balls and corresponding parts for 3 years daily as a dashboard camera system as well as part of some other photography/video based rigs.

Ive gotten so many of these that I could start a resale store! They are so versatile you can make your own adapters.

The stud is shorter than in the picture, basically 1/4 of thread not 3/4 as shown, had to drill and tap a hole instead of using a nut as planned

Thought it was metal. Its actually a hard rubber.
