The description on this keyboard is tactile and silent, that isnt quitre the case. It has good feel, but the keys are far from silent. I get that full size keys wont be completely silent, but this thing isnt much quieter than my full size Razer gaming keyboard. I went without the numeric keypad to save space. It is nice and small. The wristpad is nice most of the time, but I tend to move it when gaming. It is nice it is magnetic, easy to add or remove. But the quiet part is my biggest complaint. I was hoping for something I could type on without everyone having to hear it. Not the case.

Update: after a few months, the a key has become defective. It sometimes types two as for each physical press. Not something I would expect for an expensive keyboard. The Razer Orange switches, which are designed to approximate Cherry MX Browns, feel nice. The tactile feedback resembles rubber dome keys. Theyre loud, however. I measured them at 63 dB without the O-rings (slightly louder than normal conversation according to scales), and 61 dB with the O-rings installed. The keyboard is described in the page title as Tactile & Silent, which is clearly false. I dont think anyone would call normal conversation silent. The O-rings are not pre-installed. You have to install them yourself, which is annoying as it takes about 45 minutes. There were 91 O-rings and a key puller in the box. The LED back-lighting is uneven and poorly implemented. The images on this page are misleading. They show regular and shifted characters (5 and % for example) as equally visible, but only because they shine a spot-light on the keyboard when they take the photos. In the real world, the shifted characters are practically invisible. On keys where the printed characters take two lines, such as Page Up, the lower line is not back-lit, and are only marginally visible in low light. The caps lock key turns green when enabled. The floating key (low profile frame) design is nice--its easier to keep the keyboard clean. The USB cable is braided and removable. USB A to USB micro-B. Better keyboards, including some in the same price range, are USB-C on the keyboard end. The key caps are beveled moderately aggressively. Shifted characters are printed below the regular characters, which definitely looks strange. When back-lighting is off, the characters are harder to see than on a regular non-LED keyboard. I wouldnt suggest turning off the LEDs, but this is a problem for the unlit characters, which are hardly visible, and are even less so when other characters near them are back-lit. The back-lighting works without software. Youd have to install Razers software to customize the back-lighting, create macros, etc. I chose not to install the software, and I find the keyboard perfectly usable. The manual is poorly written. You dont need to read the manual to use the keyboard, but there are reasons to be concerned. Like many tech manuals, there are pages in several other languages. One of these pages--Chinese, I think--mentions mercury and cadmium (in English words). I cant tell what it says since its mostly not English and theres no English equivalent. Theres also a warranty for Australia. Nothing for the US or other countries. We dont get a warranty? 10-key rollover according to Razers website. Keyboards in the $100 range usually have N-key. Its also strange that its not 6 or N, which are more common, but either way its not good. There definitely arent any high-end features, such as USB pass-through or a detachable numpad.

Edit: Ive added one star since my initial review. On Razers end, their warranty was able to support me with a functional replacement. Its such a shame because the new keyboard didnt have a wrist rest and is actually a different beast altogether, or so I will disclose. A upgrade on paper, but not the way I may have most wanted. If the orange switch version of this BlackWidow didnt have any issues, it would have been the perfect keyboard thats suited for my needs. Ill be fair, I believe the support team did the best they could. The teams involved in product dev. and manufacturing just seem to have botched the keys I had issues with, and further research say Im not the only one with the problem. Had this for about a week now and the chroma effects glitch out when using in tandem with other lighting features. Started to get the iconically frustrating double clicks on keys like a, t, d, s, etc. the day I got it. Banging on the broken keys for a press or two works for a couple minutes until it starts bugging out again This is definitely not a software problem btw, Ive made the lengthy and troubling journey of reviewing my computer and the synapse program of any potential incompatibility or mishap. This double typing applies to any laptop and desktop Ive tried it on. Just gonna use my old keyboard for now and shelf this since I cant return it. Didnt feel like it was worth the effort. Im going to avoid Razer Keyboards for now. Spent good money on what wouldve potentially been an awesome experience.

    Greater than one week

Im pleased with how the keyboard works. Even with those silent caps, the clicking its still a little too loud, because Im coming from a laptop-oriented keyboard.

I got the Razor Death Adder mouse and was so impressed by the speed and accuracy that it opened up my eyes that I had a crap, cheap keyboard and it was time to upgrade. I write reports for a few hours a day and I am working to trim down the time and it takes typing up reports and navigating websites and clicking on tiny dots in web pages, etc. the regular mouse was slowing me down. The mouse was so good, hell, I better upgrade my keyboard and see how that works. I went to Best buy to try them all out and liked this one the best. I got it and yes!! It is speeding up my typing a lot. Also the software with the mouse and keyboard seemed to somehow interface well with my computer and my whole computer system now also seems a good percentage faster. Amazing! I am so pleased with these products and with a 2 year warranty they will pay for them selves soon by the time I save at the computer doing my work.. Good job Razor !! p.s. I am not using these for gaming, but went down this road to get the speed I need. I am no longer slowed down my reports. It is just my nimbleness with which to handle the keys and mouse now...

Impressive for the price. Razer has come a long way with their switches. My favorite keyboard switch is the Cherry MX Brown, and these are very close. Subjectively, this keyboard is a little bit louder but not by much. Typing on it feels great, very responsive. Pros: - Great backlighting, with fine control of the brightness. - Tactile switches, very close to Cherry MX Browns. - Braided cable. - Roughly 2/3 the cost of keyboards with Cherry MX switches + backlighting. - Dedicated media keys. Cons: - The larger keys such as spacebar and shift use the old metal crossbar style. This makes them more difficult to remove for cleaning / adding O-rings. Since these are things you dont need to do often, I consider this a minor inconvenience. - Slightly louder than Cherry MX Brown keyboards. - Razer Synapse bloat is required to customize it. - Alt / Fn / Menu keys are different sizes, so if you remap those keys you wont be able to move them around.

This is a superb gaming keyboard with limited button features, but Razers synapse program makes it an amazing tool to keep your game sharp. Four stars for a great build, cool customizable lights right now to the individual key, an excellently built wrist rest that conveniently snaps on to the keyboard, and an intuitive program that allows for all of the customization. Fast and reliable, obviously tough with lots of use. While an expensive keyboard, I got the tactile and clicky version on sale, and holy crap do they mean clicky. It sounds like a damn typewriter, but is a very effective and deadly fast board for anyone looking to step up their game. I’d advise to wait for a sale, or spend a little extra on a version with some more options if you got the coin, and probably a quieter switch set.

----------------------------------- English ----------------------------------------- I bought the keyboard based on a lot of reviews and it is perfect to work with, being tenkeyless it is easier to grip the mouse closely, the orange + orings switches reduce noise a lot but nevertheless being a mechanical keyboard it will always do more noise than a conventional keyboard, if typed correctly, the noise can be moderated. Recommended to work, to play it also works very well but perhaps for something more precise other types of switches are better (such as Linear optical switches or cherry MX Silent red) ------------------------------------ Español ------------------------------------------ Compré el teclado en base a un monton de revisiones y es perfecto para trabajar, al ser tenkeyless es mas fácil agarrar el mouse teniendolo cerca, los switches naranjas + orings reducen mucho el ruido pero sin embargo por ser un teclado mecanico el siempre hara mas ruido que un teclado convencional, si se escribe de forma correcta el ruido se puede moderar. recomendado para trabajar, para jugar tambien funciona muy bien pero quizas para algo mas preciso es mejor otro tipo de switches (como los Linear optical switches o cherry MX Silent red)

Bought in March 2020. Its now May 2023. The keyboard itself was perfect for me... but the left ALT key no longer works. I use the keyboard for work and light gaming. Im disappointed because I have a Razer mouse that lasted almost a decade. That was through lots of gaming sessions.

It’s a great product and the green switches I have purchased are very satisfying but wow they get loud after a while. Not to the point of frustration but to where it can be somewhat irritating to someone impatient. If you don’t have green switches then solid keyboard, great build quality and RGB is bright and fully customizable which is really great especially if you want a tapered experience. I came from a Logitech gaming keyboard and this is just great. The synapse software lets you not only program buttons to other keys but it can do things from open a app to paste emojis and even do combinations of keys for overlay etc.
