    Greater than one week

Its been just a good keyboard. Its also unexpectedly heavy, so be ready for that. Also get a wrist pad if you dont float your wrists when typing. The software is primitive and the RGB spectrum isnt great. The color you select on screen often doesnt match what shows up on the keyboard unless you are close to a standard color, example, white is light purple, and the lighter you go on any color slowly turns into light purple. Has a twang that sounds like a spring being flicked in a metal box if you press the keys with normal typing force, so I constantly hear it. I hear people say its because the switches are seated in a metal frame, but I understand a common theme among higher quality mechanical keyboards is they are mostly metal, so Ill chalk this experience up to low build quality. Would be interesting to hear the switches in a plastic frame. They are also starting to develop a slight squeak. I havent tried lubing or isolation rings so not sure if that would help. I dont think the actuation force feels uniform across all keys. These brown switches have a barely noticeable ridge when pressed, my opinion is that they are just alright in terms of mechanical feel. It comes with other samples of switches, the blacks take more force but dont have a noticeable ridge when pressed, the reds just feel light and mushy, and the blue have a nice click that sounds similar to a mouse click but add in the twang and squeak issue I mentioned earlier and I dont think I could handle that... The caps lock indicator light will sometimes switch indication. Meaning when you press the caps lock key and the light turns on, youll be typing lowercase. It switches back on its own. I have no idea whats going on with that. This is my first mechanical keyboard, so I didnt want to spend a lot. You get what you pay for so thats why I rated 4 stars instead of 3, because a lot of this doesnt necessarily mean the keyboard is junky it just means it was constructed as a cheap mechanical keyboard. I went from low profile membrane to this and it definitely required a learning curve, but regardless of all of this I dont think Ill go back to membrane. In the future Ill just get something higher quality that has switches with more actuation force, less travel, and an ever so slight click if something like that exists.

Very responsive keyboard. Lots of customizable lighting settings. Very heavy so it doesnt move around when gaming and the feet grip the desk very well.

This keyboard works great for me. I needed a lighted keyboard for better visibility. I love the many color settings. The construction is so sturdy I doubt if it will ever wear out! If anything on it does, there are replacements readily available.

I have used membrane keyboards for decades. I had never had the experience of a mechanical keyboard, and finally decided to get one. That was not this one. But, I wanted something a little flashier than the one I had before, so I got this one later. :) They are, of course, kinda pricy. This one however, was a decent price. So I bought it. Yes, I know there are better ones out there. And the switches on this one (in this case, the Outemu Browns) are either good enough for beginners or absolute trash, depending on who you talk to. But as the headline says, this review is from a beginner standpoint. My previous keyboard had Outemu Brown switches as well, and as I liked the tactile bump, I stuck with them when I got the Redragon. And really, Ive been quite happy with it. Now I will say, as Ive started to explore the world of mechanical keyboards, Im realizing that theres so much better. But, it looks like I can mod this thing, so thats what Im going to do. I generally like the look, and the overall feel of it. But I need that thock. Basically, if youre coming from a standard membrane keyboard, this is a decent keyboard. I dont regret the purchase at all. I went to help my dad with some computer issues he was having, and used his e-waste keyboard, and couldnt believe the difference. I dont know why I didnt switch to mechanical sooner. If you dont want to spend $100 or more on a keyboard, and want something decent and with RGB (I suggest getting pudding keycaps for an even better light show), and you dont care about the enthuiast side of mechanical keyboards and/or this is just a starter...yeah...this works.

[Original Review: April 2, 2019 - 1 Star] The Redragon K556 RGB arrived yesterday and I eagerly connected it to my computer. Unfortunately my Win 10 computer (HP Pavilion p6710f) doesnt recognize it as being connected. Ive tried connecting to several different USB ports, rebooting each time, but the keyboard stays dead. My old keyboard works in all of these ports. Installing their driver made no difference. Ive contacted Redragon via their website, as the red card in the package told me to do, so well see what sort of response I get. Meanwhile, it gets one star since you cant give zero. [Update, April 5 - 5 stars] Shortly after writing my initial review, I revisited my Amazon order and clicked the Get Product Support button. The Amazon agent responding to the chat gave me my choice of replacement keyboard or refund. With all the glowing reviews I was seeing here, I just figured I got a defective unit and asked for a replacement. It arrived today, and the instant I plugged it into a USB port on my desktop, it sprang to life, and Im using it to type this update. Im a touch typist and have no problem with the key feel and spacing. The laser-etched keytops let the backlighting shine through nicely and will serve me well for those evening/night computer sessions, and besides they just look cool. Im bumping my rating of the hardware up to 5 stars. Meanwhile, yesterday I received an email from Redragon in response to the message I had left on their website, apologizing for my problem and asking for a video. I replied asking a video of what -- there was nothing to show because the keyboard was dead. They responded asking for my order number and address so they could send me a MOUSE. I replied with the requested information, but pointed out that I had purchased a keyboard, not a mouse, and that Amazon was already sending me a replacement keyboard. Maybe theyre sending me a mouse to compensate me for my trouble (?). I feel they really want to stand behind their product, but there might be a communication problem. Anyhow, well see what ensues. [Added later] Never received a mouse ...

its a big change from cheap wireless keyboard and mouse combos that im used to, first off its THICK it stands a full inch up from the desk this isnt a problem for me as i type with my wrist raised but i can see how somebody would want to get a wrist rest for this that being sead im not complaining at all it is a great keyboard with very responsive all brown switches and individually back lit and addressable rgb which isnt a selling point for me accept for the fact that i can assign a different color hex value to every single key if i wanted to(in the software you have a selection of i think 20 colors but it is using a hex string color code so if you edit the .config file you can assign a different code to every key... ok i was a bit bummed to see a sample kit of 4 different kinds of switches and not 8 blue switches as many of the reviewers of this product had described as i was going to use the blue switches for certain keys as a feedback mechanism for me but thats ok as it is simply a sample pack and all the spare switches are usable so if one needed to they could use any of those 8 switches as a spare even after they use the 2 spair brown switches.. i personally like the blue switches for certain things and i will be purchasing a kit of a dozen mx blue to complement the ones i already have and that will give me a dozen extra brown switches to use if needed but none of that is relevant to the keyboard itself as is forget about the extra switches for a moment the keyboard its self is great and i think its even better than some much more expensive alternatives out there and dont misunderstand 105 cherry mx blue switches is going to be expensive like around $120 for just the kits of switches so thats not an option and this isnt that and i think for the average user these brown switches are as good as they need to be allowing the price to be what it is and for that i thank redragon...good job on this one... good on you amazon as well as i wouldnt have even looked as this product if it wasnt a amazon recommended product for so long i was under the impression that redragon was a generic brand that probably use membrane keys ans cheap electronics and plastic casing all that was fall this thing is heavy metal with great feeling and responsive keys and beautifly backlit i definitely recommend this to anybody who wants a good keyboard and is tired of the cheap walmart options and doesnt want to break the bank either

The keyboard is great, types really well and doesn’t make an extraneous amount of sound. But if you want to keep the LEDs always on and not some ridiculous pattern that’s distracting, you have to download their software. Included in it is a file called HidServ.DLL. Normally that’s included by Windows, but the DLL included with the ZIP file downloaded has extreme anti reverse engineering tactics applied like encrypted strings and checking if a debugger is attached. If you download the software, delete HidServ.DLL as it’s not even needed by the EXE to run at all.

This is a great keyboard, and an amazing deal. You dont find many keyboards like this at this pricepoint. The keyboard is nice and heavy due to its metal body, and is built to last. There are 18 different lightning presets, plus adjustable direction, color, speed, and brightness for all of them! The RGB lights look awesome, especially at night. The switches are very nice to type on and for gaming. This keyboard is sleek and stylish, and definitely looks good! But there are a couple of issues (I will address them later.) As a side note, many people were saying that they got 8 extra brown switches while others were saying they got blues, which is strange because people are getting different switches. Personally, I got two spare reds, browns, blues, and blacks. The switches are all Outemu, for anyone wondering. Pros: -Nice, solid metal body -Adjustable feet with rubber pads -Looks awesome -Great RGB at a budget price -Outemu switches feel great -Double-injection molded keycaps that will last for a long time -Nice sturdy cable with gold-plated USB connector for stable connections -Font isnt all up in your face. (Cough cough, K95 Platinum.) -Spare keys (in my case it was better as a future reference to see which keys I might want to use) -Great overall Cons: -This one is nit-picking, but I will still mention it. The caps lock key doesnt have a light on it to indicate if its on or off. Theres a light on the top right of the keyboard, but Im used to it on the key itself, but thats just me. -No dedicated macro or media keys, but at $60 what do you expect? -No volume knob, also nit-picking -Instructions are unclear on how to remove the actual switches for replacing, ended up breaking one in the process. Good thing they included 2 spare browns. **-This one frustrated me a lot, and its that if you are holding shift while you backspace, it double backspaces. This is really annoying and has caused me several times to go back and forth with one word for a solid twenty seconds. Overall this is a great keyboard for the price and, even though there are a couple of cons, all the pros are still a great reason to buy it. So if you are looking for a budget mechanical gaming keyboard with RGB and a few extra features, this is definitely a good choice to pick up!

So this is my 4th Redragon product. I have a mouse, which is still great after 4yrs, got a short red switch mechanical gaming keyboard which is great for traveling, and then I picked up the mouse/keyboard combo for my work setup at the office cause I wanted something better than the stock setup. Well they keyboard on that wasn’t mechanical, so I ordered this one and it is AMAZING. I got the brown switches and this thing is like butter, I love typing up emails and doing any other type of typing work now just cause of how fun this board is. I imagine it would be great for gaming as well since that’s what this is aimed at. Highly recommend and will forever be a Redragon customer.
