These pens are always amazing. Great quality and it’s an added bonus that the ink is archival and will not fade with time.

I dont have that much experience with quality pens, so take my words with a grain of salt, but I love these so far. They write well on nearly every surface Ive tried them on without running or smudging (they do require a long time to dry on smooth/plastic surfaces, but they look MUCH better than Sharpies). Writing turns out looking very neat because of the evenness of the ink coming out. The brush and marker tipped pens have also been great so far, and I imagine they would be really nice for drawing or Zentangle (I havent tried this yet, but plan to!). Overall I am really pleased with these pens and expect to buy more when they run out!

Nice pens, but could have been easier to use and lasted longer

This set has something for every type of artist. I like the smaller nibs for details and smaller drawings all the way up to the brushes for calligraphy/typography use. Perfect for ink and wash watercolor as you can really soak it without fear of running or fading. Just a very nice versatile set. They seems to have a good deal of ink in them as well. One word of caution to a new artist- you need to use light pressure on the smaller nibs as they can be crushed and ruined with constant heavy pressure. Not recommended for young children for this and the permanent nature of these pens.

These markers deliver precision lines without feathering or bleed-through on marker & Tomoe River paper. They work better than Sharpie ultra fine markers when tracing intricate designs onto waterproof transparent sticky notes. Im also glad that this set includes Graphic & Brush-tip markers; I look forward to getting more acquainted with both feel & function of these specialty markers.

All pens worked, no duds. Opinions differ but for me nothing beats Microns. I always get a consistent, predictable, line with low-smudge, opaque, ink. Different pens have a different feel and I love the way Microns glide over vellum. I used to have a lot of quality control issues with the super-thin tips of size 005 pens which are notoriously easy to push back into the pen by the pressure of inking but lately that hasnt been an issue at all. Not sure if its an improvement in product quality of if Im having a lucky run. In either case go light when using 005s.

These pens seem to work really well. Paper texture is important, too, so for watercolors, you might try hot pressed watercolor paper if you want smooth lines. I havent tested all of these to see if they are all non water soluble, but the 05 size one seems to be (I brushed water right over it with a paint brush after it dried. No smearing. The brushpen may be less non water soluble, or it may not have been all the way dry when I tested it, but still didnt look bad once the water I brushed over it dried (so maybe my brush wasnt 100 percent clean after testing another brands brush pen). In case you want a comparison of widths, I uploaded a test sheet on regular printer paper (contains tests from both this set and a Faber-Castell set here on Amazon.) Hope that helps!
