Back up your computer, substitute this drive and restore your system to the new drive. It will be MUCH faster. I have done this to four Windows 10 computers with excellent results. Be sure to install the free Samsung Magician software (from the Samsung web site) to set up Over Provisioning for better performance and longevity. If installing into a desktop computer, the very inexpensive Orico 2.5 SSD SATA to 3.5 Hard Drive Adapter makes it easy.

Its impossible to evaluate a product designed to last 5-6 years within a week. I appreciate quality reviews, but this feedback is premature. Previous models have lasted over a year without issue and provide great performance/value.

Samsung is a good brand when it comes to SSDs. My laptop is 5 years old with a 5400rpm HDD. Successfully cloned with everything and what a difference in run times. If you are planning to clone your old hard drive to a Samsung SSD you will need to buy a SATA transfer cable which isnt expensive. You will also need to use the Samsung Data Migration software to clone the drive. Just do a Google search to find it. Its easy to use and its free to download from Samsung. Theres also a user guide for the software on the same webpage.

Only reason gave this a poor rating is becuz it was it had the box “Do not Resell” on the box so u guys do the math Fortunately my other half was able to install into my laptop it seems to b working sufficiently but the price on something that was supposedly “Do NOT RESELL” has mr bugged

Im a technician and let me tell you something....samsung has the best system for the ssd. You can update the software and you will not lose any data

The Samsung SSD was a great purchase. After downloading the Samsung migration tool, the install was easy. Works good, is fast. If in doubt, download instruction from youtube . My old hard drive was getting noisy, new one is silent. My Dell laptop is now much faster. Why did I wait so long:>)

I just got a Samsung TV after a cheaper brand burned out after 18 months. So being happy with that, I went for this slightly-pricey SSD. It works fine. Reviews online said it was among the fastest drives out there, even though the competitors are major memory-chip makers. (Shouldnt competent memory chip people know how to make great SSD drives?) But a big plus for Samsung is supposed to be their invincible data migration software, which is unique to them. And Im cloning my old HDD, so its an easy choice. But it wasnt simple to get my multiple drives to boot Windows 10 to run the Samsung duke-le-duke software. I ultimately used Clonezilla (open source) on a flash drive to get things booting correctly. (Copying an entire hard drive to a new SSD is mega tedious.) Unintentionally, Ive become more comfortable with Linux stuff. Who knew? Still, a good solid SSD from maybe the biggest name in the field. P.S. What the heck is sheerness of an SSD?
