I had to purchase a cable to connect the SATA 3.0 to USB. No biggie got one on Amazon. Plugged the SSD into the cable, then into the laptop, and used the Samsung software to copy/mirror/transfer the old hard drive. No hitches and copied perfectly. Installed this in the older laptop and now it boots lightning fast. I love it and highly recommend this product. It gave my old 17 laptop new life (along with 4 gig memory) I am beyond pleased.

Although the drive in the computer wasnt working well, it seems that the problem is the motherboard OR the processor. Will replace those in the spring. But I got the drive much sooner than expected!!

Turned my wifes super slow Acer Aspire laptop into a speed beast. Added another ram card to put the ram in duel channel verses single channel with the single card it came with. Formatted the replaced hdd to use as a storage drive using a hdd caddy bought here on amazon and it replaces the dvd drive. A whole new fast laptop with a ton of storage for under $100. Buy it.

Had for about a month now and no problems. Installed vey easily.

I have been buying the EVO series since they vame out and havent had a single problem. They are fast and run cool. All around its a great SSD.

The box it came it was marked not for retail sale. If any issues arise with the product, and Samsung will not hold it to the same warranty that would come with a consumer drive, I expect Amazon to fulfill the warranty - as I purchased a consumer drive, but have received a manufacturers version. The drive itself checks out as a genuine Samsung 860 EVO within Samsungs software, so I have no reason to believe it is a counterfeit. The drive itself gets a 5 star rating all around for quality and price. Samsungs SATA SSDs are the standard for the industry. That said, if youre selling not-for-retail-sale manufacturers drives, the price should be marked down, not up. I was unhappy paying a $10 markup thinking I was getting a consumer drive with a consumer warranty. I am very unhappy paying a $10 markup on something that should have been marked down $10 from the going rate. Once more for clarity - If Samsung will not uphold the 5 year limited warranty that comes with the 860 EVO for-sale-to-consumer drive, I expect Amazon to uphold that warranty.
