    Greater than one week

I put this in my Dell Precision 7920. It is a standard sized 2.5 disk and I was able to use one of the existing slots to mount it easily. It plugged in easily and Windows recognized that I added a new disk and prompted me to format it. I ran Crystal Disk Mark 7 on it. In the default mode, for the sequential test, it was slightly above the listed speed of 560MB/s for both read and write. I then ran the real world test to get a better idea of what it would be like. The sequential numbers are slightly lower, but still very respectable for a SATA interface disk.

I bought this for samples libraires (Kontakt, OPUS, Vienna) which mainly utilize 4k random reads (QD1). While NVME drives will load patches faster, the streaming performance at QD1 standard is about the same, and youll get better thermal performance with SATA.

The SSD came just as advertised, after installing it in my desktop and partitioning it as a new drive it worked perfectly. The only real problem I could see was the lack of screws to mount it in a 2.5 SSD case slot, though I had some on standby so it wasnt much of an issue.

What Samsun doesnt tell you is that, beyond 72GB of SLC cache, this thing drops to its knees. 50MB/s for normal files and 100MB/s for very large files.

Apparently there are some known bugs in the Samsung magician software V 7.0 that comes with the drive. Amazon does not care because they make money selling faulty product. I wasted HOURS on a firmware update with no progress bar and luckily I didnt ruin the hardware by restarting the PC! Also the software often fails to launch. Despite all the problems and stresses with this both Samsung corporate and Amazon corporate fail to do anything whatsoever to compensate me for this aside from return it!!! Do the people that set these policies even work with computers and know just how unrealistic that position is once You have all data transferred and installed in a Laptop?

I had a small (240g and full) ssd as the boot drive. I connected the new 4tb ssd, turn the computer on and used the Samsung magician app (you have to get this on the web, its free but does not come with the new ssd) It made an exact copy of my small ssd and thats it. I removed my old ssd because its too small to be useful but I could have reformat it.
