> 3 dayMy particular most recent order was dead on arrival, hence the dropped star. Otherwise an excellent product - great performance, has lasted years including multiple reformats, all around a solid choice for an SSD.

Greater than one weekFirst this is an excellent drive. Using this drive without a heatsink is a bad joke...dont do it. Get a heatsink and have a fan pushing air to it or the performance will be throttled with any significant transfers.

> 3 dayI purchased the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB. This is a terrific product. I combined it with a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB. Samsung Magician is quite magical. It enabled Rapid Mode for the 860 EVO and its lightening fast. Unfortunately, Samsung Magician (S.M.) does not support Rapid Mode for the 970 EVO M.2. So you get its default speed. Oddly, people have reported the 970 EVO (not Plus) does support Rapid Mode and can surpass the speeds of this one. So, the 970 benchmarks at 3400 MB/s read, 3200 MB/s write. The 860 benchmarks at 5600/5900 with Rapid Mode on, for my personal system. It is still high quality and a reliable model with better default speed than the non-Plus, but if Rapid Mode is important to you, Id do some research. Youll want to start getting 1TB drives because realistically you need to partition 10% of SSDs as empty space for a better lifespan. S.M. has many options to manage the drive(s), including partitioning off 10% and optimizing/benchmarking the drives while monitoring health, so I always go with Samsung.

> 3 dayGreat performance especially with gaming, but runs hot. It idles at about 47 deg. C on average, and can easily hit 60 deg. C when gaming. With an active heatsink (thermal pad / heatsink / fan), it averages 40 deg. C and tops out about 55 deg. C when gaming. Used heavily for about 2 years with no issues.

> 3 dayTo start out, this drive is blisteringly fast. Top scores in just about every metric, if pure speed is your goal, this is the drive to get. This is my 6th Samsung SSD, following a 830, 840 Pro and EVOs, 860 EVO, and finally this 970 EVO Plus. Unfortunately, this particular 1TB 970 Evo Plus died about 3 months after purchase. Drive was no longer recognized in BIOS after functioning well from date of purchase.
