Update my review because I thought the drive was bad, turns out the motherboard m.2 slot was the problem. Hoping the problem wasnt caused by the drive...

It is possible to get that speed but in most cases the other parts of the computer cant send data that fast so transfers between the SSD and mechanical drives will be much slower. However operations that take place all on this hard drive or if data is copied or moved to another SSD the speeds really are as stated. Though the speeds will fluctuate up and down some it is still a lot faster than my old mechanical hard drives and even faster than the other Samsung EVO 860 SATA thats was already in there. I wanted the 500GB but didnt want to spend a lot on this since its was to be used solely for the operating system, support software and normal desktop software. Installed games now go on the other SSD making all software including game loading much more efficient for all applications. I love the improvements to storage technology in the last decade.

This drive is insanely fast. Software thats installed on this drive launches nearly instantly. Upgrading to this drive from a SATA SSD is as dramatic as updating from spinning disk to SSD. Its insanely fast!

I have 3 pf these, 2 500gb and 1 1000gb, they have been very good for the 2yr+ ive had them

The Samsung EVO line is a well respected product, and for good reason. It isnt bleeding edge at this point, but if youre looking to upgrade or buy your first M.2, this is an outstanding place to start.

This version of hard drive is the way to go. So very easy to install. Works like a dream. Just be advised this will fit only in a full sized desktop computer.
