First things to do after installing is to download Samsung Magician and be sure to update the firmware to the most up-to-date version! People have experienced issues with these SSDs but a firmware update will prevent them. Youll likely receive this SSD with the updated firmware already, but it is quick and easy to check so do yourself a favor. After all of that is done, enjoy the quick speeds of these beasts!

This SSD is running as my main storage drive which is running windows and after 5 months and more than 40% full, I decided to do another speed test and it still runs fast. I put a photo up of the speeds I get with it. Im satisfied with this SSD.

I didnt realize the fans in the Precision 5770 were so close to the SSD sockets. The heatsink was tall enough that it hit the fan case and wouldnt allow the drive to seat in the slot correctly. I might have been able to force it, but I didnt want to damage the slot. I returned the drive for the same model without the heatsink (and it works great). I like the idea of a built-in heatsink - but not for this laptop.

The ssd is super easy to install following the instructions on ps5 YouTube channel. Make sure you get the right size screwdriver to open the ssd slot and change the position of the screw. Takes less than 5 minutes. The system must be updated to the latest firmware update BEFORE you format the drive, otherwise it will not have the same read speed. Format the drive and it’s ready to go. Very fast and all games are playable off it (ps4 and ps5)

Bought two 500GB drives for storage of programs, games, videos, pictures, and documents. For the price and the Samsung name, you cant go wrong. There are other brands out there that are just as fast, have more total TBW, and are just as good. So whatever you choose, you are going to get some blazing fast drives.

For anyone on the fence about this drive. Dont be. Its extremely fast in the areas that count. It has very high IOPS and incredibly low latency which overall gives a very responsive OS feel.

Perfect for PS5 and it’s space “issue” lol.
