SAMSUNG T5 Portable SSD 1TB - Up to 540MB/s - USB 3.1 External Solid State Drive, Black (MU-PA1T0B/AM)

I purchased a T3 unit many years ago when I updated my laptop. The computer had a fairly small SSD drive so I wanted this to add external storage yet be as portable as possible. It certainly did the trick for years until I started to lose memory (which is normal as they age). I considered the T7 but having the additional transfer speed it offered just wasnt worth the money. Plus, some reviews mentioned a heat problem with the T7, which I wanted to avoid. So I opted for this T5. So far, it is running flawlessly. It was recognized immediately by my laptop and I was able to start backing up to it right away. Plus, Ive never noticed any build up of heat even though its being used most of the day and accessed every few minutes. So far, I would highly recommend this item.

Drive is fast, yes, and youll fill it up quick. I like having a password protect option. Keep losing it on my desk because it is so small. Another user noted the fragile USB-C connection coming loose, and I observed that but possibly a new cable would fix. An annoyance is that after mounting, an error message appears that the drive had been improperly unmounted *previously*. I take pains to quit the Samsung application and unmount the same way I always unmount drives on a Mac. Hopefully the error message is just a meaningless glitch; havent seen any major malfunctions yet.

It is super fast delivery-same day delivery. For a 10 gb video, it takes about 10 seconds to copy while usb 3 takes 2 minutes and 20 seconds to copy the same file. Its easy to carry around, light and tiny. I like to two cables that come with the drive.

Wanted to add some external storage to my PS5. Works really well and seamlessly, the reviews are true: apps here load almost as fast as the internal PS5 SSD. A higher speed SSD like the T7 isn’t necessary.

I was thinking of building my own portable SSD by using NVM.e or a 2.5 SSD and put in enclosure, but I dont think it will look as nice as this. Speed seems fast as I normally just use this to transfer files less than 4GB.

Works flawlessly, fast and great for Lightroom photos.

This drive is lightning fast, and works great for playing the PS4 games off of (can store PS5 games, but not actually play them off the drive). Just make sure to use the cable that ships with the drive, and plug it into the back of the unit. The front ports dont have enough power.

Samsung delivers another excellent external SSD. I own two T3s and one T5. I just point out to you that this is a European model and I discovered that if it needs service you have to pay for mailing it to and from the Netherlands. Still, fastest, best external SSD out there right now.

This SSD is lightweight. And it is fast, especially if you make plug it into a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port.
