> 24 hourThe machine was very noisy in terms of the stylus seeking information on the disk. The advertised transfer speeds were not present either. The unit ran extremely hot and made very loud noises, like all units that are not controlled by the USB port, it was on all the time. Very disappointed in these products. I have invested in LaCie products recommended by Apple as I was connecting this drive to the new Mac Studio computer. Not only were the LaCie products less expensive but they work very, very, well. I believe Western Digital is a valuable player in the small portable market but I won’t invest in any of their desktop products going forward.

> 24 hourEven though the interface is USB-C, the actual date transfer speed is quite slow. I am only getting 125Mbs.

> 24 hourThe device was easy to plug in, and offered me right away (on my Mac) the 12 TB of Sorge I needed. I used it for a Carbon Copy Cloner target, and that worked great, and I had been using another 10 TB drive as a Time Machine drive backup medium, so now with twi G-drives (10TB + 12TB) I am fully backed-up and protected. This is a good company, with good products that I fully endorse!

> 24 hourI have several variations of this drive. They have all worked flawlessly. All of my other drives have metal feet that let them stack with air circulation. These new ones (since G-Tech was bought out) are the same look but lack the feet and have plastic shells. A 7200 RPM drive puts out a LOT of heat so give them plenty of air circulation. I keep a fan on mine in warm weather.

> 24 hourThe SanDisk G-Drive external hard drive description states, Works with Windows via reformat & easily reformatted for Windows. However, the SanDisk websites actual instructions for reformatting the G-Drive for Windows indicate that reformatting it is NOT easy – it is complex, risky, there are potential compatibility issues, etc. If you intend to use the G-Drive with Windows, read the SanDisk websites instructions for whats involved in reformatting the G-Drive for Windows. I returned the G-Drive.

> 24 hourMy purchase was for the G-Drive PRO, which is a mechanical hard drive, not an SSD. There are some reviews for this drive on Amazon that say the speeds are terrible. Do not listen to them. They do not understand that this is NOT an SSD, it is an enterprise class SATA mechanical hard drive in a TB3 case. The bottleneck here is the mechanical hard drive. There are people complaining that this is not a 40gb capable drive. This is laughable pure ignorance of the technology and what they purchased. The mechanical hard drive inside is NOWHERE near capable of 40gb speeds. If you need huge mass storage the G-Drive PRO is an excellent drive. If you need the absolute fastest speeds then you should buy the SSD version. Just do your research to understand the technology you are buying.
