This is a nice drive, but I did have to reformat it -- no big deal. One thing I really appreciated, are the inputs which allow daisy chaining other drives with thunderbolt 3. These drives have gotten so much less expensive than when I bought a 12 T Raid drive. That old one died on me before I could move all my data. Not going to let that happen again.

The description states it is configured for Mac OS use, but can easily be reconfigured for PC use. It is not that easy to reconfigure and SanDisk does not provide a detailed procedure. Reconfiguration requires more than a few keystrokes.

This product once purchased can not be returned or replaced. My new drive crashed and lost all me data. Ive been trying to use a recovery app thats been running for 1 week non stop to recover my data and its only at 40%. Stay away!

G drive is good overall but this one came having noise and crackling sound so returned!

The machine was very noisy in terms of the stylus seeking information on the disk. The advertised transfer speeds were not present either. The unit ran extremely hot and made very loud noises, like all units that are not controlled by the USB port, it was on all the time. Very disappointed in these products. I have invested in LaCie products recommended by Apple as I was connecting this drive to the new Mac Studio computer. Not only were the LaCie products less expensive but they work very, very, well. I believe Western Digital is a valuable player in the small portable market but I won’t invest in any of their desktop products going forward.

I am using this drive with Time Machine on my MacBook Pro and I am very happy with it. Its not super portable but I dont need it to be. Backups are very, very speedy!

Storage capacity and the small size is perfect.

The G-DRIVE PRO enterprise-class desktop hard drive is perfect for storage-intensive applications like audio/video editing or digital photography with ultra-fast Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C interfaces in a premium, all-aluminum enclosure. The G-DRIVE PRO desktop hard drive comes with powerful performance up to 200MB/s read and 200MB/s write. With a high-capacity, enterprise-class 7200RPM Ultrastar drive inside, the G-DRIVE PRO device is plug and play on Mac, and easily reformatted for Windows. (1 MB/s = 1 million bytes per second. Based on internal testing; performance may vary depending upon host device, usage conditions, drive capacity, and other factors.)
