SCHLAGE F40 BWE 618 Bowery Knob Bed and Bath, Polished Nickel

I purchased 9 of these knobs for my home and I love them, they are exactly as described, easy to install and very sturdy. Yes, I would recommend and yes, Id buy more/again.

These are really sturdy nice looking doorknobs. They have a modern appearance. As another reviewer has noted, the back of the strike plate is square and the cutout area of your doorknob may be round. I just used a chisel to square the rounded area and the strike plate fit right in. This wasnt a big problem, but might be if you dont own a chisel. I took one star off easy to install for this reason.

You get what you pay for. These door knobs may be a little more than “similar” door knobs, but these are flawless. Very sturdy and durable. Great matte finish. Simple to install. Makes a HUGE difference when it comes to home improvement. My 90s built home needed a major updating and these were a key piece!

This knob will be on the door between the living room and the hallway and so it will get a ton of usage from 4 kids and especially the 3 year old who likes to repeatedly open & close doors. It was easy to install, seems well built and I liked the modern but simplistic style. A contractor told me to buy this brand as its long lasting for a good price and as I was looking for knobs, I just happened to find my favorite within this price range as the brand he suggested. It was a pretty easy install after I looked at YouTube. The directions had like 8 pictures but Im more of a text instruction type of person.

They look nice installed, but you’ll have an annurysm trying to get it installed! We’ve gotten 1.5 of 5 installed - may hire a handyman to do the rest.

In my opinion Schlage makes the best door knobs and locks out there. So that said I am bias. I thought his particular knob is not only unique and eye catching but it feels solid in your hand. When you turn each knob it glides smoothly, without making any anoying clicking when you try to close a door silently. Most of all they are tough. The satin nickel finish will hide minor scheathea or imperfections for years of dependable performance and look.

Passage hall knobs, Greyson style: First, install was hard because the instructions did not apply to these knobs. They have a cover that blocks the screw holes (to look pretty i guess). I searched a long time online for instructions and only found vague comments here in the reviews and Q&A. YIu have to insert a flathead screwdriver into a slot on the neck of the knob to depress a flap and then pull the knob off the rest of its fixture - then you can remove the faceplate / rosette / cover and access the screw holes. The knob pops back on when done, no problem if only one has instructions for this! But then I realized the rosettes are simply loose, even after I mess with them to try to get their little metal overlap hold spots to overlap more. This is especially true on one side. Install does not tighten it. Slamming the door or having your hand hit it makes it loose and rattle and spin. Annoying. Lastly, this model is simply uncomfortable to use. The neck is too short and the plate too thick, leaving little room for our hands to grip the knob--my knuckles press on the cover plate too hard. And the corners are too rectangular to feel nice. (I have small hands and love our other models of Schlage knobs). While the metal components feel superior to our Kwiksets we were replacing, this was not an upgrade, and I am putting the Kwiksets back on. I might try for the Georgian or Colonial models instead. Sadly, I installed these long after the returns period, and the problems only show up when installing and using them.
