> 24 hourIn all my many years of keeping fish, many have claimed to have products to bring down nitrate levels, but none worked. This is the first product I have found that actually does. And it is cheap. I did use it in my canister filters as opposed to hob, after reading the reviews. Seems some had mixed results that way. But I am amazed at the results I have gotten. It is not immediate, it took some weeks to see it drop, but after two weeks out Im at 10 ppm. Will buy again.

> 24 hourThis is my first time using this media and I just put it in the filters so it would take some time to know the effectiveness. I bought couple of 1 L Seachem matrix bio bottles, and very consistently, each 1 L bottle has about 1/5 to 1/4 of other rocks. Seachem needs some better quality control here. I cant believe that several reviewers said they only had a few other rocks. For the dust, they were not too bad, I only had to put them in the sink and rinsed a few times.

> 24 hourThis is in fact large enough to not need a media bag when used in a canister filter. With that being said I think it would be better to use a media bag to make it easier to take it out to lightly rinse if it gets too dirty, also will make it easier to reposition. This is a very good product, the bacteria grows rapidly on it and it is the only thing I use on my 120 gallon as far as bio media. I use 1 and a half times the amount suggested and all my parameters are perfect. I also use Purigen to remove organics from the water along with my protein skimmer. I also would recommend that when you put Matrix in you should pour some bio boosting bacteria on it to help kick start the growing process.

> 24 hourAfter reading the feedback from other buyers I can only say Ive lucked up with receiving a full bottle. By no means am I as experienced in the hobby as everyone else so I may not know about the actual performance of this product but through reading I do expect to enjoy some benefits from this.

> 24 hourI have used this for a while and it works as advertised. My goal was to get my aquariums to be as low maintenance as possible. So i did tons of research and found that bio-media is the most effective way to keep aquarium water at the right parameters. I now use this, purigen and filter floss and my water is not only crystal clear, but also perfect paramaters. My ph is always around 7-7.5 0 nitrates and nitrates and 0 ammonia! I do add water when the tank gets slightly lower and do a 25% water change every couple months! I couldnt ask for a better, low maintenance aquarium! I use this on a 29 gallon angelfish tank as well as a 60 gallon community tank.

> 24 hourGreat filter medium. Can be added to a hang on the back type filter or canister filter. Much more surface area for beneficial bacteria than ceramic bio rings or plastic bio balls.

> 24 hourThis product is well known for being excellent at providing a place for beneficial bacteria to grow and flourish. It is not overly expensive so I got some and added it to one tray in my cannister filter. It, along with a tray that has a bioball/ceramic ring combo makes up the bulk of my biological filtration with a large coarse sponge pre-filter helping also. This should be more than enough to handle my 75 gallon tank. I also have some sponge media for mechanical filtration but I like to rinse these with tap water so that the bacteria multiplies where I want it and not on the sponge that will eventually get replaced. The only issues I have are 1. There is at least half of this that is very dense like a rock. It is not all porous. That is not a deal breaker because I want bacteria growing in different ways and hopefully I will attract different types. 2. This really does need a bag to hold it. It will work in the cannister but the smaller pieces move and get wedged under the tray handles preventing it all from stacking correctly. I fit this into two media bags and this just makes it easier to clean but you will need to purchase a bag. Overall, based on reputation alone this is worth having in a tray. There is enough porous rock to justify the cost and now I have a nice diverse set of media in my filter working 24 hours a day.
